For my wood stove, I ran 8 inch triple wall chimney pipe ($$$) from the fire stop, which is at the ceiling, through the attic and out the roof. The chimney pipe is 3 foot higher than my roof line within a horizontal distance of 10 feet. Two feet is the rule so an extra foot was insurance. I was running 8 inch single wall chimney pipe from the wood stove to the fire stop. The fire stop is a transition for passing the chimney pipe from the stove out to the outside. With that in mind the wood stove was too much heat for me and I had to load it 2 a night to not wake up to icicles. So I got a pellet stove fill the 60 pound hopper and I'm good to go all weekend. The pellet stove pipe is 3 inch so I'm guessing that we are in the same boat. I have an adapter that goes over the 8 inch single wall at the fire stop. Look on popular, 2 day shipping site for Selkirk Pellet Stove Pipe Adapter. Cost me $45. Now I need to somehow adapt from the the 3 inch pellet vent pipe to this 3 inch adapter. To answer you question, NO, this will not work because you need a female end to go on the top of the pipe stack that goes down to the stove. The interlocking part of this pope is male. Not that there's anything wrong with that. If I had to guess, this part allows the user to make up differences in a short stove pipe where the length is odd. I hope this helps. Oh, I'll probably end up fastening a collared flange to the male end of a short length of 3 inch and attaching that to the Selkirk adapter. How did you end up making this transition? Thanks in advance!
I don't believe so. The vent is a double wall with stainless and is very strong and probably will not bend into an oval. These fittings also twist together and won't twist to seal if not round. By doing that may also ruin the seal of the vent and could start a fire.
3 inch minimum out to 10 inches. It is 12inch overall.
It slides over the top of a standard length of pipe to move up or down to finish a job. Being it is not a fixed piece of pipe with a female end, it is then considered an adjustment length.
