Kindling is not needed for this product as our firelogs are designed to burn by themselves.
Thank you for contacting us. Although OUTDOOR firelogs were developed primarily for outdoor use, they may be used in indoor fireplaces as well. For indoor fireplace use, they must be used in an open-hearth fireplace with a chimney that properly vents outdoors. Always open the flue before lighting the logs. When using in a fireplace, please start the fire with only two logs, and you can add one additional log (one log at a time) when the fire dies down to stoke or extend the fire. Please close the wire mesh protective screen after igniting or adding a log, but always leave fireplace glass doors open while the logs are burning. Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you have any other questions.
Yes, our Outdoor Firelogs can be used in a backyard fire pit. Please make sure to follow the lighting instructions on the package.
Duraflame firelogs are not approved for use in woodstoves. Our firelogs are designed to be burned in an open-hearth fireplace with a steady airflow. Many airtight wood stoves do not provide appropriate airflow into the firebox for our product. This can cause the log to burn at a much slower rate than designed.
We don’t recommend adding wood to a Duraflame fire. When you add other materials to the firelog, it can change the characteristics of the burn. Adding wood to a burning firelog can cause the log to break apart resulting in a sudden increased burn rate or flare up. Firelogs contain twice the BTU energy content per pound of firewood, so burning firelogs with wood could create excessive heat that exceeds the specifications of your fireplace. Because of this and similar potential safety hazards, we don’t recommend adding wood, or any other materials, to a Duraflame firelog.
No additional fuel is needed; you just light the wrapper. Before you light the fire, always start with two (2) OUTDOOR firelogs (not 1 or 3) in an X formation like a campfire. Please refer to the wrapper for more detailed lighting instructions.
No fuel is needed. Mike
Unlike our other firelogs, Duraflame OUTDOOR Firelogs are approved to be safe to cook over. OUTDOOR Firelogs are made with 100% renewable resources, and no coal or petro-chemicals are used in the special formula. Specially designed and tested by an independent laboratory, the OUTDOOR Firelogs are stackable and produce long-lasting hot coals ideal for roasting campfire foods, such as marshmallows and hot dogs.
The firelogs are about 13" long and can be used in that type of firepit. Make sure to read all instructions on the packaging before lighting. Start with two Outdoor firelogs and do not add any firewood to the firelogs.
