Product Overview

Be prepared for the big storm or any power outage with the flexibility of the Durostar DS10000EH 10,000-Watt Hybrid Dual Fuel Generator. Adding the capability of being able to operate on Gasoline or Liquid Propane, you will be able to provide safe, reliable power when you need it while increasing your generator's run time. By also operating on propane, the LPG fuel will not gum up or foul your generator's carburetor while still giving you quick, reliable starts every time. Durostar Generators are perfect for any application where portable power is needed, whether it's because of a natural disaster or needed for camping in the woods, Durostar will deliver. Powering this unit is a 18 HP, Durostar Over Head Valve Engine. This feeds the fully loaded power panel with a peak 10,000-Watt and 8,000 constant watt of power. Also contained on the power panel is the RV Switch, Idle Control, Keyed Electric Start, Engine Shutoff Switch, Volt Meter and Circuit Breakers. These units are EPA approved for safe use in US National Parks thanks to the quiet exhaust with spark arrestor. The sound level of these generators are 72 dBA while running a load and drops down to 45 dBA while idle control is engaged with no load for an even quieter operation. Durostar Generators are designed to help you stay safe and secure during any type of power outages, expected or unexpected.

Will this run air conditioning on a small home?

Asked by Kait August 4, 2020
1
Answer

It will depend on the amperage of the AC unit. The circuit breaker is rated at 33.3 amps for 240 volts. It would need to have a running amperage less than that consistently along with meeting the starting amperage requirement.

The generator came with a regulator you would screw on to a propane gas tank. My house is propane...

Asked by Lin July 20, 2020

Answer

For bigger propane tanks, you may be able to replace that regulator for a longer hose with high pressure regulator coming off that tank. It really depends on the size of the tank used. For more information, you can reach us at 844-Duromax.

Does the generator come with the LP gas hose?

When I received my Generator last year, (Nov/2017), it did indeed ship with the LP Gas Hose (5 foot). Hopefully, they have not changed their processing and shipping policy for 2018, and they continue to ship the LP Hose.

Recommend cable?

I have the exact same Generator, and it works well on both LP and Gasoline. Obviously, with Liquid Propane as the fuel, you will not have quite the same power/wattage as with Octane Gasoline. And while this Generator allows for different Fuel-Types, it also allows for Multiple Power Connections. Depending on whether you are Camping, Job-Site Contractor, or Emergency/Backup-Power for your Home; this Generator supports four (4) different Power-Cords. Typically for Larger Campers/Trailers, Fifth-Wheels, etc; you would likely use the NEMA 14-50R (50-Amp Receptacle) with 120/240 Volts. This would require a "NEMA 14-50 Power Cord", with 14-50P (Plug - "Male") at one end to plug into Generator; and 14-50R (Receptacle - "Female") at the opposite end to plug into Camper/Trailer. Note that there is NO "L" prefix, as this Plug/Receptacle Combo is Non-Locking. If you have a smaller to medium size Camper, then you would likely use the L5-30R (30-Amp Receptacle) for 120 Volts. This would require a "NEMA/L5-30 Power Cord", with L5-30P at one end to plug into Generator; and L5-30R at the opposite end to plug into Camper. Note that there is a(n) "L" Prefix, as this Plug/Receptacle has a Twist-Lock configuration. If you are going to use this Generator at a Construction/Job-Site for Table-Saw/Skill-Saw/Electric-Drill/Drop-Light, etc; then you would likely use the standard Duplex outlets "NEMA 5-15/5-20" (110 Volts, 15/20 Amps). The two (2) pairs of Duplex Outlets would require your typical Household "Grounded" Extension Cord(s), 12 or 14 Guage. Lastly, if you going to use this Generator for Emergency/Backup-Power for you House, (Hurricanes, Blizzards, etc.), then you would probably use the NEMA/L14-30R Receptacle (30-Amps - 120/240 Volts). This would require a "NEMA/L14-30 Power Cord" with corresponding L14-30P (Male-Plug) and L14-30R (Female-Receptacle) at opposite ends. Again, the L14-30P would plug into the Generator, whilst the L14-30R would plug into the pre-wired L14-30P Power Inlet Box (Service Entrance) into your house. This L14-30P Power Inlet Box would be wired to either an Auxiliary Transfer Switch (typically controlling 6 to 10 Circuits), or directly to your Main Circuit Breaker Panel Box. If you go directly to the Main Circuit Panel (No Auxiliary Transfer Switch), then you will need a dedicated 30-Amp/240-Volt Circuit Breaker for the Generator; that would be enabled/disabled via a Generator Lockout Plate, also referred to as Generator Interlock Kit. The Transfer Switch or Interlock Kit are required, so that you do NOT backfeed 30 Amps of 120/240 Volts from your Generator back out thru the Main Service Entrance of your Electrical Panel, which could possibly injure/electrocute the Lineman working down the street, trying to restore power to the neighborhood. While a fairly lenghty response, hope this helps with the multiple/various Power Cord options.

Just purchased this generator, unfortunately it didn't produce any electricity. I called the manufacturer, the gentleman told me it was probably the voltage regulator, if "you wanted to order" it. Hmm, still within my 30 day warranty coverage, and consumer is responsible for their faulty product.

It is still in the box. Ask again in May, when we have installed it. It is a back-up unit. We thought the dual fuel aspect would be great, but was disappointed that a 20lb propane bottle would only last for 8 hrs. We plan to have a 100 lb tank hooked up, or available.

Took me awhile to get it started, the instructions are not up to date as far as propane operation. Had to go on YouTube to figure out how to use the choke properly to get it started.
