Is the grill hood single or double walled? The one I saw the lid was fairly light weight and flimsy. Thinking of ordering a natural gas model, reviews of damaged pieces makes me a little nervous.
Asked by: Peas1983
It is single walled. I haven't noticed a problem with excessive heat when I use the grill. The thermometer in the hood goes up quickly to 400 degrees or so and I don't feel like I'm standing by that kind of heat.

Dyna-Glo 4-Burner Natural Gas Grill in Bronze with Side Burner is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 123.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice four burner grill w/ a hot plate Received the grill in good condition, well packaged. All parts were packed nicely and were present. The assembly instructions were clear and easy to follow. Started project 12:00 noon, completed assembly at 3:00 pm. This seams like a good mid priced grill w/side burner. The box was heavy, so be careful handling it when it arrives. I am happy to be replacing a fifteen year old grill with this new grill very satisfied with 60,000 total BTU propane (LP). The grill has 666 square inches of total cooking space. The grill offers 4 stainless steel straight burner tubes, a stainless steel side burner, 2 cast-iron enameled cooking grates which are protected by 4 steel enameled heat tents that adds flavor as juices vaporize. The side shelves offer space for food preparations. The cabinet style offers an easy open two door, while inside it offers an open slot for a propane (LP) tank to sit easily into place. In addition, there are 2 locking and 2 non-locking heavy duty wheel casters. Warranty: 1 year limited.

I ordered the grill online to be shipped to my local store. Once it arrived and I picked it up there were several parts missing. I could not put the grill together and use it until I received the missing parts. I called Home Depot and they basically told me that I had to contact the company directly and there was little they could do for me. I contacted the company and the customer service person was very rude to me. I talked to the customer service supervisor and finally got them to agree to send the missing parts. A week later I received the incorrect parts from the company and had to reengage them to rectify the situation. Three days later I finally received the correct parts and was able to put the grill together and use it. The grill is great and I enjoy the convince of using the natural gas from my house to run my grill. While it was a frustrating journey to get this grill up and running I am satisfied with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Grill! Okay, I’ve grown tired of replacing my Char-Broil grills with Char-Broil grills. I've had three in a row. No matter how well I take care of them, and these were the Commercial Series models mind you, they all end up burning themselves out. And with the cost of replacing burners and such, which I did, I decided to try something different and more affordable. On top of that, I’m a little leary of Char-Broil’s new Infa-red technology - I like, and insist on having a certain amount of charring on the outer edges of my steaks, so I’m a little unclear on how much control over the flames I would have. So here are the highlights of my new Dyna-Glo: • Ordered online from Home Depot. • It arrived a day early, in perfect condition. • Great instructions, easy to assemble. It took me 2½ hours, but I was also watching The Outlaw Josey Wales while I was assembling it so there were a few "distractions." • Love the bronze color… a nice change from the stainless look. • Plugs right in to my gas hookup. I just got through grilling my first steaks… 3 Prime filets. Absolutely perfect! Yes, there were a few flare-ups as the flames came into contact with my concoction of Worcestershire Sauce and Montreal Seasoning, but as I said, I welcome the effects they have. So far, I would highly recommend this grill.

I will agree with one reviewer, the packaging engineer needs to be fired. No damage to the box, but once I opened it and started unpacking, I found several dings. I can live with a few dings, but seriously, fire the packaging engineer and start over. As for the grill, it took me about 1.5 hours to assemble. The instructions were the best I've seen in a "some assembly required" product. (perhaps hire the writer to design the packaging). The grill itself is a heavier 2 walled construction as are the doors. The casters are nice sized also with 2 locking. The cooking grates are a nice heavy cast iron. A lot better than the coated steel you see in most grills. I did have to run to the hardware store to get a fitting so that my gas line and the quick connect would fit together, (1/2" vs. 3/8") but no real problem. I also like the colors on this grill. A nice change from the stainless look. I let the grill "burn in" for about an hour before I cooked on it, although I'm not sure that was necessary. First meal was chicken....cooked to perfection. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The grill is great, everything I wanted it to be.... The grill is great, everything I wanted it to be. However... Even though the box was in great condition the grill had a couple serious dents. Given the box was fine I can only assume it came that was from the factory. It made the grill difficult to put together as one side of the base was so dented it didn't line up with the grill unit on top. With some wiggling and muscle from a couple of us we were able to make it work and the dent is mostly covered up once it's put together but for $400 I would have thought their quality control would be better. The doors on the front don't align very well either. The rub against each other and have to be forced close. Not a huge issue considering I didn't plan on using that storage space and I don't need to access it for propane but again. I would have though quality control would be better. They aren't really adjustable either so there's no real way to make them come together smoother.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid choice for a NG grill The quality of this BBQ is very good for the price point. There are little things that show this, such as the use of tall threaded inserts in the steel panels, which allows for a super solid assembly. Everything is made of metal, except the knobs, door handles, and igniter body. The plastic is somewhat of a disappointment, because those pieces get a lot of hands-on use, and it would be nice if they were metal. However, they are good quality, they are holding up well, and they do the job. The single igniter uses an AA battery, and instructions recommend using it to light all 4 burners. I've found that adjacent burners actually light without it, which is convenient. Fully fired up, it easily gets to over 500 degrees in a few minutes. The thermometer seems to be spot-on. The grills are burly ceramic coated cast iron, not the typical lightweight wire. The warming rack is enameled steel wire. There is no chrome plating anywhere to flake off. There were no weird odors from anything during initial break-in / burn-in. Heat is very consistent. Cooking chicken, kabobs and smaller pieces resulted in even cooked pieces. I had good results with salmon too. I even had good results with veggie burgers and veggie dogs, which are hard to cook on a BBQ; there's good heat control, and you can set the heat low if needed. The grills are easy to clean, and although things stick to them "normally" it doesn't require any hard scrubbing to remove stuff. Since they are ceramic coated, you do have to use a little care not to chip them. The side burner works well and puts out quite a bit of heat; boiling a big pot of water for after dinner coffee is quick. The storage compartment is roomy since there's no tank. The bronze color looks way better than I expected, and it is a nice change from the stainless steel and black colors. I'm not a fan of the knobs, since 1. they are plastic, and 2. they have a rubber grip ring, which collects dirt from hands and is hard to clean. I would much rather see sculpted metal knobs. The drip pan is a bit small, and although I didn't have any issues because of the type of food I cook, I can see them filling up quickly with things like burgers. Overall, I think this is a great value, and aside from the few plastic pieces, a very good quality grill that should last a long time.

Assembly was straight forward and not difficult. Took about an hour, and 2 people are needed to get the main grill onto the stand. I did find 2 places where the metal was bent in shipping, but they were not in visible areas, and did not affect the assembly. Very happy with the bronze finish, looks very nice. We have the natural gas version, and had a plumber come to hook it up to the gas line. The connection to the quick connector seemed to be an odd size, and he had to go to the store to find the proper connection. We are very happy with the performance of the grill. Preheats to 500 degrees in less than 5 minutes. It’s taken some practice to get the cooking times right, but everything we have made has cooked quickly, evenly, and has tasted great. The side burner is a great feature that really expands the usefulness of the grill. The porcelain coated grates work well and clean up well. Weber grills seem to be the number one choice, but at $400, a Weber will be a smaller grill without a side burner. The Dyna Glo offers a great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Give it the Gas! …and never, ever worry again about running out of propane mid-BBQ! It’s been a long time coming, but when we “stubbed-up” a natty gas line to our patio during a home renovation, we dreamed of being LP tank-free. The day has finally come and we’re encouraged by great reviews that Dyna-Glo is the way to go! The parts include a 10-foot hose with 3/8” quick-connects (both male and female ends). After routing through the grill, there’s about 6-ft of hose available for external connection. Our ½” gas connection required an adapter- a quick trip to the local Home Depot solved that problem for under 2-bucks. The grill really isn’t difficult to assemble, just time consuming and a bit tedious. With a Phillips-head cordless power driver, assembly took 2-1/2 hours and one-person (aside from a helper to lift and align the top unit onto the base). You can preview the very clear, well-written and illustrated assembly guide on the HD website under “Product Overview” (also includes a long list of parts-numbers for future replacement needs). The unit arrived quickly, was packaged securely, and took about 30-minutes and the better part of a trashcan to unpack. There were no missing parts and a slight dent in one panel was remedied with the tap-tap of a hammer. The grill is a very handsome color combo, made of painted sheet steel with a well-insulated, double-thick top and porcelain-coated cast iron grates. The controls are conveniently placed on the front panel, leaving the side-wings uncluttered by knobs and providing abundant workspace (the left shelf assembly hides a handy side-burner). Without a propane bottle to take up space, there’s lots of available storage behind the cabinet doors. The grease trap is relatively small (4.5” x 4” x 1-1/2” deep) but can be emptied from either front (inside cabinet doors) or rear (via open-back). The rear wheels securely lock into place and unlock for easy transport. A definite bonus is having the ability to selectively light individual burners- there’s one ignition button but separate igniters for each burner. With all four main burners turned to “high” the grill heated to 500-degrees F in about 2 minutes. The only complaint is the half-open-back design. We have wild critters that might enjoy a go at the inclined drain and grease-trap, or hanging out in the security of an easily-accessible cabinet. There’s also a Dyna-Glo Rotisserie Kit and custom cover available (purchased separately).
