This heater have a strong fan and a pump for fuel that needs power, also it need power for the electronic board that controls some sensor like flame sensor, temperature sensor, in addition whit a continuous spark to keep the flame alive all the time. you need a power cord all the time to make it work

I saw a 2 star review and wondered what possible reason there was to give such a low review... After using mine for 2 tanks of fuel, I definitely give this little heater a CLEARLY 5 STAR review! 80,000btu is definitely on the conservative side without a doubt. This thing puts out a substantial amount of heat. My only wish would be for it to come with wheels so that it is a little higher off the ground to ease in fueling and ease in maneuverability. Surely not any reason for me to knock its rating since I clearly knew it does not come with wheels. This is simply a good reason for a wheel kit project for me in the near future. Also, it is way less noisy than my 60,000btu propane heater. Another point, no it does not emit an intolerable amount of fumes. I hardly notice any negative emissions while I'm predominantly using off-road diesel fuel. Overall I'm quite pleased and would definitely purchase another if I ever need one.

It blows allot of btu's and warmed the garage up quickly. The issue is the fumes. I found out most of these torpedo type kerosene heaters basically blow exhaust fumes into the air. I just didn't realize how bad it smells, even after leaving the heater outside with the garage door open 2 feet. It's like standing outside at the airport and breathing in jet exhaust. Unfortunately I had to return it.
