do they make a wheel kit for this unit?

I purchases a furniture type dolly under $15 at Harbor Freight to set mine on. I secured it with bungie cords. I roll it all over my garage now.

Can I use this inside my house

Asked by: Turtle
Yes, you can physically connect this heater, add fuel and turn it on inside the house.....BUT it's only safe to use this way if you provide adequate ventilation. Without proper venting you WILL asphyxiate yourself. The heat "plume" created by this unit will EASILY start a fire, so be careful.

Just bought this unit for an airplane hangar in Minnesota. I'm using diesel because that's available on field. I've noticed that this heater tends to 'spit/spray' diesel out the front while in use. Is this because the air pressure isn't set correctly? I have it set at 3.8.
Asked by: MNPilot
Hello MNPilot, That is the correct, suggested pressure for the 80K BTU unit but the relief valve is in place so that the user can find the ideal pressure the unit will run on in any environment. Some adjustments may solve your issue but if not some additional trouble shooting would be necessary and our Technical Support Team is happy to help! Brought the item home, unpackaged it and mounted the handle, along with the two plastic cord wraps on the side. Went to a local Sheetz to purchase the K-1 kerosene that is recommended for this heater. Just something as a side note. There was kerosene in the tank from the factory so do not attempt to put 5 gallons in right away or it will overflow the tank. Once the tank was fueled up I plugged the unit in, set the thermostat to 80 degrees and fired it up. It started immediately and puts out a lot of heat. Am I satisfied with this purchase? You bet! Would I recommend this heater? You bet! I would give this a heater a rating of 5 stars...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great heater I purchased this heater today for my workshop. The heater did a fantastic job of warming the area up. My work shop is approximately 15 feet x 40 feet. This heater is awesome. My work shop has no insulation as of yet, has a tin roof, and many gaps open to the elements. I am not kidding, I took my sweater off this evening due to the high output from the heater. I hate the cold, but this heater does such a fantastic job I could have worked all night without any worries. I am more than happy with this purchase. I would recommend this product to anyone requiring instant and continuous heat. It was 39 degrees tonight, and I was working in a tee shirt due to this heater, unreal.

Right after I did, the COLD weather hit big time. Over the years I have owned several of this style, (different sizes.) This is a compact heater, easily moved with one hand. Fuel capacity is 5 gallons. If I didn't see it for myself, I never would have believed how much heat this thing can put out! I like that it has a thermostat and fuel gauge. For my money it is the ultimate forced air kerosene heater. So far I have used it six hours and it never skipped a beat! I truly expect to get a lot of YEARS out of this one. Very pleased with the purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid choice I just bought this last month after about 25 seconds of deliberation. My credentials for the following opinion stem from cold winters in Maine wrenching on snowmobiles in an old barn garage in the dead of night getting ready for the trails. We always had a Dayton churning and burning as we worked, and as a kid I always remembered how remarkable I thought it was to be wearing a t-shirt in such conditions. Fast forward 25 years and I'm building furniture in my garage for the new home my wife and I bought. Bottom line - this is a great unit. If you have a 2 car garage that you want to be able to use year round without a massive overhaul of insulation and advanced heat than this is what you need. In a world of complicated decisions this is a no brainier. It's a motor that runs a fan that pushes heat from a fire made by spark and kerosene (or diesel). Why make it any more complicated than that. It just works. Stop doing crazy research about 8 thousand different options for a simple problem. You're cold in your garage and this will make you warm. If you want your neighbors to take you seriously, your wife to respect you more, and your in-laws to not think your a sissy boy...buy this thing throw on your flannel and get out in those sub freezing temperatures and start making some saw dust. Also - grab your son and teach him so he can benefit society later in life. God speed, good luck, and may the force be with you. Go get off the internet and make something. *worried about this one not having wheels? Well 1.) it isn't heavy and 2.) buy a $20 furniture dolly from HD and just slap it right on top. It works great. *amazingly the actual orange metal tube doesn't get hot when it's running...only the front plate. I would not have guessed that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome heater I bought this heater to work on my metal fabrication workshop (3 car garage). I keep the two garage doors cracked open at the bottom and a side door cracked open. (I'm paranoid of carbon monoxide poisoning). Anyway the heater works beautifully. It heats the garage up nicely to around 70F while the outside temps are in the low 30's. I'm in a t-shirt while it's on. Pros: lots of heat; large kerosene fuel tank to last me a couple of weekends; thermostats which is AWESOME! Cons: about as loud as my wife's hair dryer set on high; slight kerosene smell but you get used to it; no wheel kit available and this is why I did not give it a 5 star rating. Otherwise, it's 5 stars on performance guaranteed. To make a simple wheel kit, simply buy a 2x4" and cut it into 4 pieces. Nail or wood screw the pieces together in the shape of a rectangle, add 4 caster wheels. Set the heater on top and you have an instant "wheel kit.". You should have one or two of those caster wheels "locking" type to prevent it from rolling away down your driveway. I tried a 230v electric heater and it was no comparrison. I sold it. My work has a 3-phase 460v industrial heater and it CAN NOT compete with this kerosene burner! That's the truth! I highly recommend this unit because it's almost too big at times. In that case, I just open a garage door wider. Also, try to use the "Klean-Heat" fuel instead which is also sold at many Home Depots. It's cleaner burning than 1-K kerosene.

I use this 80,000 btu heater in a 24 x 24 garage, presently uninsulated with an open ceiling and it easily kept it warm even when the temperature dropped in the teens. It did make enough noise to drown out my radio but I expected that going in. I like that it included an air pressure gauge making it easy to keep it running at peak efficiency. This is a great little heater and I would recommend it to anyone needing to heat a cold garage or medium size work area. I've run 10 gallons of kerosene through it so far with no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will be Nice for Winter Puts out some good heat at about 700F. Takes about 20 minutes to heat up a two car garage from 40F to 70F. When used with a good quality K-1 fuel it burns nice and clean with no fumes. The smell reminds me of burning JP-4 when I worked in the Air Force. It burns the fuel at a rather good clip so I would recommend getting a 5 gallon canister on standby if your doing a weekend project.
