Product Details

DynaTrap uses 3-way protection to attract and trap flying insects. It starts with a UV bulb that creates a warm light to attract many pest insects.

UV Bulb

DynaTrap technology utilizes multi-layer protection to defend your property against insect pests. First, the UV bulb generates warm light, which is highly attractive to many pest insects.

As a secondary lure, the trap uses a TiO2 titanium dioxide-coated surface that mimics human breath. Mosquitoes will instinctively follow this trail.

CO2 Trail

Next, an exclusive Ti02 titanium dioxide-coated surface, produces a CO2 trail that mimics human breath. Mosquitoes will instinctively follow it in search of a meal.

The final step in the process is a powerful, whisper quiet fan that sucks mosquitoes and other insects into the trap where they dehydrate and die.

Whisper-Quiet Fan

Once attracted to the unit, the powerful, whisper-quiet fan draws the insects and mosquitoes into the retaining cage where they dehydrate and die, typically within 24 hours.

Trapping insects doesn't have to be ugly! DynaTrap Insect Traps are specially designed to blend in with your existing décor.

Attractive Design

Not only can DynaTrap Insect Traps defend your property against bothersome pests, they look great while doing so! They are specially designed to blend in with your existing home décor.

This powerful trap offers up to one acre of protection.

Coverage Area

The powerful all-weather trap is designed to provide protection up to one full acre. It’s a bigger design for a bigger catch!

Place traps 20-40 feet away from high traffic areas, in between standing water and other insect breeding or resting areas.

Where to Place

To avoid attracting insects to where you spend time, place it approximately 20-40 ft away from where people will be sitting.

DynaTrap Insect Traps are easy to use. The trap requires no propane or expansive attractants. Simply plug it in.

Easy to Use

The trap requires no propane or additional attractants. Simply plug it into a standard 120V outlet and place it in between insect breeding areas and people areas.

A:  I bought two of these and almost to the day they both had bulb failures. Would be a huge improvement to incorporate LED technology into this product...3000 hrs bulb life is nowhere close to accurate...

Q:Would this product be as or more effective if it were placed on a second floor deck, as opposed to being placed on the ground?

      Answer This Question

A:  The trap will work best when placed in an open area with sufficient wind flow. Remember that the trap should be place 20-40 feet away from your outdoor activity area as the trap will immediately attract insects towards it as soon as it is turned on.

A:  The coating is applied to the area below the bulb, it interacts with the UV light from the bulb to create CO2.

              Works for me
I set this up last night, it was a little windy and raining, so I didn't really expect much to be in the trap this morning. However, it may be a little difficult to see in the picture, but there are a ton of mosquitos in the trap along with a few moths. I did add on of the small PIC octenol lures into the bottom basket. It seems to work great so far.

Performs well, but include additional attractant
I previously had the expensive Mosquito Magnet machines that cost $800-1,000 and this DynaTrap collected as many mosquito's as that did. Locate a shaded area where you predominantly get a lot of mosquito's. Mine was ~25 feet from my front door at the corner of my house near some bushes. I attached an Octenol attractant lure which you can get at HD, to the underside of the trap. So far in <2 weeks the trap has caught hundreds of mosquitos and I've noticed a considerable drop when we walk out our front entrance.

After just 6 days, the results are impressive
Mounted the Dynatrap on a fence post in the rear of the yard. See first picture. Behind the fenced in area, standing water accumulates in the wooded area after hard rains so mosquitoes are a problem. Live in a suburb of Minneapolis. Also added a PIC Octenol Lure - bought a package of 3, also from Home Depot - and affixed one to the Dynatrap using the clips on the lure and some extra tape. The PIC lure is actually made for another trap - Mosquito Magnet I believe - but with the tape, I was able to mount the lure on the rim of the bottom bin so that the fan pushes out the scent of the lure. I peaked into the trap from time to time to see insects accumulating but waited almost a week to empty it. While there are some moths, the bulk of the catch are mosquitoes with a layer of over an inch deep. See 2nd picture. The trap is about 75 feet from the rear of the house, and mosquitoe bites are already, noticeably lower. Can't speak for the longevity of the unit but this one gets my recommendation. Since I started using the Dynatrap with the PIC Octenol lure - they are not that expensive and each one lasts about a month - I cannot speak to how the Dynatrap would do without the lure, but judging these initial results, I would run the trap with the lure. Was reading good things about propane tank based mosquito magnets but I wanted to avoid the expense and change out task in handling propane. I picked up this unit on a one day Home Depot Special Buy sale so consider me sold!

Doesn’t work as well as LED Dynatrap. Already had to change light bulbs (they burn out faster than LED unit).

Was a little skeptical this would work, but living in queens NY i found my mosquito problem EXTREMELY lessened this year, in the past i'd be eaten alive within minutes of wandering around my yard, this year the mosquito reduction is looking 90+% after 3 months of use, I have 2 units on a 60x100 plot and it's exceptional. Really surprised me.

We compared it with the Costco Dynatrap 1 acre system and it looked like the Home Depot version caught twice and many bugs and the overall design was better.
