A:  Hello and thank you for your question. This water heater connector will not work on 1/2" pipe. The push-fit connection is for use with 3/4" copper, CPVC, or PEX pipe.

Q:Can it be used on gas w as water heater

        Answer This Question

A:  No, this can not be used for a gas line.

        by|Feb 10, 2017

A:  No. Not rated as gasline, and I wouldn't use it where it will be exposed continuously to hot water. I used this to connect two "in series" water heaters. Had been in for maybe 2 or 3 yrs. Son woke me last night hearing water spraying. Pin hole leak had developed 2" for the downstream end of the hose. I'd say it was due to being exposed to hot water all the time.. but these are listed for use as a water heater connector, so they should be able to handle the heat. Removed it, and the one end of the internal hose was literally mush within the stainless braid for about 3" in, but the rest of the hose maintained integrity. Doesn't make any sense to me; the whole hose was exposed to the same heat and pressure. Saw another review online w/ the same experience.. pinhole leak in 18 mos. Replaced it w/ corrugated flex copper. Will never use this stuff again.

Yesterday, i installed water heater, Home Depot Clerk talked me into these flexible supply lines with the "Shark Bite" connector at one ene... what a great product, made install so much easier!! If you don't already have a shut off valve spefically for your water heater, now is a great time to add one.

I had one develop a pinhole leak in 18 months. Water spraying all over the furnace. I'm so lucky that the water heater is in the cement/block basement.
