Questions & Answers

What size chain does the saw take? Thanks

Asked by: Mick
The Oregon 16 in. Chainsaw Chain Model# R56 is the correct replacement chain. There may be other manufacturers within the specifications but HD regularly stocks this model. It's a quality chain replacement.

Yes. I would recommend that you use the 4AH to minimize number of times you have to change batteries.

How many batteries does the mower take? What is the weigh of the mower with the batteries installed?

Asked by: Mick
The Echo mower can hold two batteries, but you only need one to run it. The mower weighs 57 pounds. The 2ah battery weighs 2.6 lbs. and the 4ah version weighs 4.0 lbs. Multiply the weight of the battery you want to use by 2 and add that to 57 pounds.

Customer Reviews

16 in. 58-Volt Brushless Lithium-Ion Cordless Chainsaw Battery and Charger Not Included is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cuts fantastic when chain stays on! Bought this saw a month ago at Home Depot. It cuts really well, but the chain keeps popping off and gets nicked up by the drive sprocket. Then it won't fit on the bar until I feather out the nicks with a file. Any suggestions from Echo would be appreciated. Yes, the chain was adjusted to proper tension each time and the bar nuts were tight. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Short life battery and doesn't cut well I've only had this saw a few days but am very unhappy with it. I tried cutting a 12" Bradford pear log and it kept binding up and over heating the bar and chain producing all the smoke and fumes that I bought this to get away from. The one cut used half the battery. I tried it on some green mesquite, but you can forget that... I looked to see it I could get a different chain for it, but it looks like the one that is on it is the only option right now. I'll probably sell it for a lose and go back to huffying exhaust. I'm a wood turner and use my saws weekly. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cuts fast with power when it will run. Honestly, the first time I used this Echo cordless chainsaw, I thought it was everything I had ever wanted in a cordless chainsaw and then it just stopped running and could not get it to start again. Wait a few minutes and it is back. No heavy load, no crazy duty cycle, just trimming limbs under 6" in diameter casually. This saw cuts like a demon when it does run and then it just will quit. Very odd. Excellent ergonomics, overall design, battery shape and ability to charge and understand state of charge, but very unreliable in that it will just stop running for no particular reason.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It looks good on the shelf Bought the first one and had problems right away. The place where I bought it felt it was the battery, replaced it, same problem, would only run for about 5 seconds, charger kept indicating the battery was bad, replace both the charger and the battery, same problem, now they replaced everything and I thought the problem was solved because it worked good, for about 4 charges on the battery, back to the original problem, would run for a few seconds and quit. Now, nothing works, saw won't run, battery won't charge and the charger doesn't indicate anything when I insert the battery. I GIVE UP!! Can I get my money back?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good saw, lousy chain I've had this chainsaw for a year. Initially it was very impressive, then the chain got dull and would not take a sharpening. I am currently shopping for a replacement chain. That said, I do recommend it but know that you will have to upgrade the chain. I also bought the Echo cordless leaf blower - and I would rate it a 6 out of 5. also have an Echo lawn mower. So I have a lots of batteries and chargers and highly recommend Echo equipment. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor service I have both the saw and the hedge trimmer. It's very hard to get warranty, or parts, or service on these products. Home Depot doesn't even have the replacement bar for this saw. And you just get a huge run-around trying to get warranty. I consider the warranty almost non-existent, because it costs more time to get warranty than it's worth. Home Depot keeps themselves out of warranty worries, by giving out the addresses of small engine shops that all say they are not able to deal with these, because they are made by Ryobi/Homelite. I figured with 5-year warranty, I would be safe with a light saw like this, but apparently they are trying to make it hard to get the warranty. I did finally, after hours of trying, a number of 1-hour trips to home depot and all the different places they sent me, and lots of waiting time and run-around on phone calls, manage to get a new battery to replace my defective one. The saw itself is an average consumer saw, with a flimsy bar and very light chain. It is definitely a handy saw when you need to use it in enclosed spaces, but it won't cut much wood.
