Customer Reviews

17 in. 22.8 Straight Shaft Gas Trimmer is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from SRM 230 I have owned this model for at least 12 plus years. Echo is an excellent product and I couldn't have been more pleased. I trimmed my 2 1/2 acre property with many obstacles, fully fenced, around the home, garage, pool, plants and trees plus 380' x 25' of ditch bank. So it was well used. 1 spark plug replaced and one trimmer head is the only parts ever replaced. I did use many miles of line but that's not the trimmers fault. I kept it in my garage out of the weather but that's the best care it ever received. Always used ethanol 87 octane fuel and it was stored with whatever fuel was in it when cut off, even thru the winter. Never had fuel stabilizer put in it. Oil used? The first bottle Echo from then on whatever the gas station had on the shelf and sometimes just 30 weight motor oil. Never even bought a new air filter, just blew it out with an air hose. Always fired up in a few tugs on the rope, until now. I just tore it down and the lower piston ring broke. The cylinder, piston, intake and exhaust ports had very little carbon deposits. 2 rings and a gasket which is less than $20 will put it back in the weeds. Had I taken care of it there is not telling how long it would have lasted. This was my first echo, have had the weed eater brand, homelite, mc culluch prior to it and have took in a 4stroke and 2stroke Troybilt on trades cannot say much on any of those brands but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend Echo and they are well worth the extra money. I down sized to a new home and just bought the SRM 225 as a replacement. I expect the same performance and reliability from it. And yes I am going to baby this one. Echo only oil and 100 percent gas. Get an ECHO YOU CANNOT BEAT THEM.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purrs Like a Kitten, Cuts Like a Tiger After owning two hunks of junk (Homelite and Ryobi) I finally learned to purchase a quality (if more expensive) product. I am completely satisfied. Started right up and purrrrred. No hiccuping or rough running and it cut through an acre of grass field that I hadn't mowed all year. Sure, I used up some line but the engine did it effortlessly. I used 89 octane and the ECHO brand gas treatment as recommended. You can't go wrong with this trimmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great weed eater This is my second echo weed eater I have bought. The first one I bought was in 1999 and lasted me 15 trouble free years. I got this one because I wanted one that had more power then their SRM225. some of my customers have weeds 4 feet tall and it cuts right thru with no problem at all. It starts right up and runs all day long. If you want one that will get the job done and run for many years, then you can not go wrong buying this weed eater. Stay away from the cheap ones because you will have buy a new one every year. Echo is a great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great power, cuts very well, and fairly light weight with limited vibration. I ordered the ECHO trimmer on-line and arrived about 5-6 days later. The straight shaft trimmer was easy to assemble, and after a prime or 2, it started right up. It handled well; relatively light weight, low vibration, great engine power, and got the job done. The trimmer lived up to what ECHO has always been known to represent - QUALITY.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable Gas Trimmer I've owned Echo gas trimmers for years and feel they are far superior to other trimmers on the market. They have lots of power and will run for years. Well worth the investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent trimmer, highly recommended Hi everybody, I got this trimmer a couple days ago and absolutely love it. Echo did a great job making it feel balanced and have low vibration. The bump feed head is SUPER easy to use and the engine sounds great. I was going to get a Stihl, but after visiting home depot and finding the 230, I decided not too. I also saved 50 bucks compared to the Stihl for a trimmer that is just as good. I already ran 2 tanks through it and there was little vibration. The engine has great torque. At 1/4th throttle it powers through moderately thick grass. In the box is a 2.6 oz. oil container, safety glasses, and two instruction manuals. The only drawback is not coming with a harness. Definitely get one, it saves your arms from having to hold it. The carburetor and throttle lock look a little flimsy, but proved sturdy after a day of use. I highly recommend this product! :).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch Quality, power, features, design and warranty all in one. Trimmer has excess power, well balanced which reduces fatigue. Line feed works well. Expect long term durability

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My First Echo, and won't be my last Just got this weed eater and I couldn't wait to get it home and try it out. I have used several other brands and even some with higher CC ratings. Stihl, Echo, Johnserred, Polan, Weedeater , just to name a few. This weed eater is by far the best one i have used. I cut through 2 1/2' high weeds without a problem, I couldn't feed it too many at once, because it was cutting them so quick. If you are looking for a Quality weed eater with plenty of power at a reasonable price check this and other Echo 's out.
