What is the mix ratio/gas to oil

Asked by: Steve
A 50:1 ratio with 89 Octane fuel can be used in all ECHO 2-stroke equipment, provided the oil is ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FD certified. ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FD oil must be used with a mid-grade (89 octane) or premium gasoline in all 1997 and newer engines. A 50:1 Ratio = 1 US Gal. 89 Octane + 2.6 fl. oz. ECHO PowerBlend® Oil.

What style head is standard?

Does this unit come from the factory with a head that can be reloaded with .095 nylon without having to remove the head and manually wrap the head and then reinstall the head? I'm wanting the style of the head to be the kind that the nylon is inserted through a hole in the side of the head and pushed through to come out the other side and then twist the head to load the nylon. Does this unit come standard with that type of loading? I'm hoping so.
Asked by: Troy
All ECHO's straight shaft trimmers will come standard with the Speed Feed trimmer head. Please copy and paste the following link into your web browser to view a demo video for the Speed Feed head; http://www.speedfeedhead.com/. ECHO's curved shaft trimmers will come standard with the 2 Line Rapid Loader trimmer head, with exception to the GT-225SF which included the Speed Feed head.

Bought this to replace my 30 year old Homelite hlt-16 30cc curved-shaft trimmer. It seems to have sufficient power, but the factory line seems mediocre at best. Will upgrade line and hopefully it will improve cutting ability. Hope to get many productive years out of this unit!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Got a dud SRM-280 Ordered the SRM-280S and this trimmer would not start no matter what I did. I have an Echo blower and chainsaw that start perfect everytime, so I'm not sure what happened with the trimmer. Returned it and bought a Stihl. Home Depot was great during this process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice Was hard to start first time. Dont follow directions and hold throttle. It starts great now. Trims great. Not realy much heavier than husqvarna i had. Its balanced well. Uses alot less gas and trims faster so im not holding it as long. Trim head wastes line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down BEST TRIMMER ever! I bought my 280t thinking I could throw absolutely anything at it. It has taken just that. I have run a forester chainsawtooth blade on it and cut down 8" cedars and I have used it for weekly trimming. One extreme to the other its an awesome trimmer and suprisingly easy on fuel. If you're in the market for a heavy duty trimmer I HIGHLY recommend the 280t . You get the gear reduction for more torque, a speed feed 450 head, a fuel sipping giant, and a 5 yr warranty. The competition has none of these its a no brainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't buy anything else Just bought the SRM 280/S. It's FANTASTIC! It replaced a 15 year old SRM 260S- a winner also! I considered the 280T, but did not want higher RPM's in order to get more cutting torque. The 280S has an awesome attack, and far more torque than my prized old 260S. Believe me, this is all the whiskers you will ever need! I used to own a commercial lawn service in Florida. I moved to Tennessee and retired with 7 acres to care for. I brought much of my Echo equipment with me and I am an Echo fan - exclusively! No other manufacturer builds comparable product period.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plenty of power I've used this weed eater twice now and I weed eat quite a bit on a few acres. Any time I get a new tool it takes a few times to get used to. Well on the 2nd time, it felt more comfortable to me than the 1st time. The motor has plenty of power and the bump feed is the best that I've seen, it feeds the string so easy. Installing the string is even easier, you just line up the marks and feed your string in with equal amounts and then wind it in by rotating the head, that part is genius! My only complaint is that I wish the trigger was a little longer because I have to operate the trigger with one finger. I weed a couple of big ditches so my trigger finger gets a little tired. I suppose someone with larger hands may not have this petty complaint. I highly recommend the SRM-280s.
