Have a CS 590 ,and in its given manual it states a 16 inch bar can be used. I have only used 16 inch. Even gives the bar number 16DOPS3860 for it. I once had this very dispute with an idiot Echo Shop until he saw the manual. Never apologized.
No
Buy the 590. I can see now reason why there would be a price difference. The P means professional but it isn't worth the price tag.
That would be a real stretch because of the power required for any sort of wood. Better to go for 75-80 cc +, than to torture this Echo's engine. Good luck finding a 36" (small-Husqy mount pattern) bar- there are none AFAIK. You'd do better with a bigger saw with large-Husqy bar-mount pattern. Covers up to 120 cc. Just for reference, I've no problem milling hickory with 24" (small-Husqy) bar on 61 cc Dolmar- pro-quality saw. Good luck.
The 620p has 4.5 hp. The 680 has 4.7 hp. Both should run the 27" bar without any trouble as long as you keep the chain sharp.
Yes
The 680 is an older saw design. It will run forever, but it’s not the fastest saw. I have both, with a 28” bar on the 680 for cutting bigger wood. I have 18 and 24” bars for the 620 and use the saw all the time. Honestly, until Echo comes out with a new 70-75cc saw, the 620 is your best option. It will run all day long and will pull a 27” bar just fine.
You can also find an Oregon 28" bar compatible with this saw - I ordered both together when new a few months back. It's a bit less expensive (and perhaps higher quality with a 5-rivet replaceable sprocket tip) than the OEM Echo bar and +1". I actually got the bar and a milling chain as a package deal from a saw shop - less expense still.
The part number of the Oil Cap is #P021016031 & the part number of the Fuel Cap is #P02103742.
