Questions & Answers

Why are people having trouble starting saw for the 1st time?

Asked by: plentyofwood
Echo's Quickstart instructions need to be improved ! Pull it more than twice with the choke on and it will be "flooded". On a cold start, push the compression release, set the chain brake, set the choke on, turn the run switch to on and pull the rope twice. Push the choke in and pull the rope as much as 3 times . . . usually starts on 2nd pull, Repeat sequence if not. The gas mix is critical . .. too much oil will foul the plug.

Can the saw be ordered with an 18" bar?

Asked by: fishonmomma
I don't know that it can be purchased with an 18 in bar, however you could switch it out easily. The saw is very compatible with Oregon products and the instruction manual makes reference to an 18 in bar at times.

Customer Reviews

20 in. 59.8cc Gas Chainsaw is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 583.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very strong saw I bought this saw and upgraded the bar to 28" Oregon for ripping a 26-ish" diameter hard pecan into lumber. I drilled and bolted the center of the bar sprocket and notched the center mounting pads on a 30" Granberg mill so I could use the maximum possible amount of bar. I also made a far-end auxiliary bar oiler since the cuts would be so long and hot. Most experts would say this is too hard a mission for the CS-590...so much for experts! The saw is STRONG.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing Beats Echo Period! The CS-590 Timber Wolf is the most recent addition to my own personal lineup of Echo brand outdoor power equipment. My love affair with Echo began in 2012 with the purchase of a SRM-225 weedeater, which is still in excellent condition without ever having any work done to it. My family of Echo products has since grown to include my new CS-590 Timber Wolf, the CS-352 16" chainsaw, a PB-250LN leaf blower making four products in all and I would recommend each to anyone I could. Simply put, Echo delivers high quality products at affordable prices. If you are looking for power, ease of use, dependability, and longevity then purchase Echo and you will be glad you did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Saw! We had a couple huge Oaks go down on our property earlier this year. We always used those cheap Poulan saws and I knew we would need something nicer for this job. I did a lot of reasearch and this saw seamed liked the most bang for the buck. We have a Echo weed wacker that has been trouble free for years......so we bought this saw to add to the collection. I'm glad we did. It is a phenomenal saw that cut up the oaks with no problems. I would recommend this saw to anyone looking for a great quality saw that won't break the wallet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from powerful but heavy I left my 450 Rancher out in the woods and it was stolen. I loved it, but had to replace it. I chose the ECHO because the Husqvarna bogged down on bigger Oaks. The 60 cc ECHO definitely has more power, but it is quite heavy. Too heavy for safe limbing. The 50 cc Husqvarna was a better overall saw for bucking and then limbing. the ECHO 60 cc is great for felling and bucking, but I have to use my Wife's 35 cc Stihl for limbing. I did like that the price of this saw. An equivalent Husqvarna would be over $100 more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw I bought the CS-590 in early spring to cut up a large tree that fell on our property and that I wanted to use for fire wood this coming fall. I initially borrowed a neighbors Stihl and got so frustrated with it between periodic failures to start and chain jumps, that I did some quick research and landed on the the CS-590, given the features and price point. I am extremely happy I did given the saws power, quick start up and straight forward features and operation. You can't go wrong purchasing this saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome saw for the money!! I recently purchased the cs590 Timberwolf, being the owner of a stihl 026,034av,and a 046 magnum. I was looking for a saw a little bigger than the 034 and smaller than the 046, being that I’m not getting any younger the 046 is just getting to be to heavy for cutting firewood. I got the 20”bar with the cs590 and I’m very happy with its overall performance as well as its ease of starting to the ease of adjusting the chain tension. If your looking for a great saw the echo is the way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st Echo product, but not the last The 1st Echo product I own, I purchased this saw to replace a Stihl 041. I was looking for something with local dealer support & replacement parts availability. Skeptical at first, but after reading reviews & considering the 5 yr warranty, I was willing to consider it. When I saw the 1 day, 20% off sale at my local dealer, my mind was made up. The saw always starts, cold or warm. Runs great & has plenty of power for cutting firewood. Handles the 20" bar with ease. It does every thing I need it to do. I understand, I gained 40+ years of chainsaw advancements with this one purchase (chain brake, less vibration, better air filtering, etc), but all for a fraction of the cost of others brands. I will definitely be looking at additional Echo products in the future. Echo, thank you for an excellent product.
