GARBAGE GARBAGE GARBAGE DIED AFTER 3 YRS of light use.
I have learned the hard way that ECHO is just a 'False Brand', ie they are garbage products sold at a premium price riding on the reputation of a long gone well made product. Got the well known bog down of death every time I give it gas. I purchased over $500 in attachments only to have the trimmer crap out after 3yrs????? Yup, did the tune up, echo gas line and filter replacement, cleaned then replaced carb, no clogged muffler, now no spark from coil. Just save your money and by a much cheaper brand. At least you expect to replace that every 2 yrs. 'But what about their 5 yrs warranty'...... yeah just look online, they always blame it on bad gas or improper gas mixture etc...... Will never purchase echo again.

      Excellent Trimmer
This trimmer was an excellent buy. It's real easy to start and very lightweight. Worked excellent with the edging attachment. Spend the extra $$$, it's worth it. I had to return a different brand that was cheaper. Echo is the way to go. I highly recommend it!!!

Excellent reliability. This is my 3rd one, bought this one for my son to use and help me with the yard. The other is 2 years old and and is the one I use. The 3rd is a back up which is almost brand new, dont use it regularly cuz it the curved one which tires me more than the straight shaft type.

          Ridiculously Great Trimmer
I put my Echo pas225sb to the test immediately after purchase. It started easily, about 4 pulls. It idles smooth and steady. It revs quickly after 1 minute warm up. I shut it off and restarted about 5 times, each time required 1 pull. Cool! Immediately cut a 90ft path 8ft wide of roadside grass and weeds 3ft tall, WITHOUT STOPPING. No engine issues, no line issues, no tangled weeds around the trim head, no "I give up I need a blade", no refueling halfway, no trimmer too heavy and taking a break. What a great trimmer! True, the engine will bog down in very thick weeds, but it recovers quickly. I'll take less weight and less refueling over a surplus of torque anyday. I strongly suggest protective footwear, clothing and eyewear because the pas225sb slings clippings like mower. See photo. Highly recommend.

I would recommend the ECHO PAS, even though this particular one, is a difficult starter. The other ECHOES that I have are excellent! I will strongly recommend all PPE and long slacks when operating them as the debris shield which makes them a versatile lawn manicuring tool also provides very little deflection of debris from the user.

PAS 225 works great, I have a small landscaping business and love this relatively low cost light weight trimmer! I also have another PAS 225 and a PAS 280, the PAS 225 is my preferred trimmer it has plenty of power and is light enough that I can run it with one hand for getting in those tight place. I also run the pole saw articulating hedge trimmer and edger with the 225 and have no trouble what so ever

I own a small lawn care company & decided to purchase this trimmer based primarily off research I conducted with Consumer Reports as well as talking with other lawn care business owners and reading a lot of product reviews. Initially I was wary of the PAS system as my experience buying other power equipment that would accept attachments was mixed at best. I have to say that after using the PAS 225SB with the edging attachment I couldn't be happier. The trimmer itself is a little on the heavy side but makes up for it in power. It handles tall grass & weeds with ease, and is also great clearing beds that are infested with weeds right down to the soil (see my photos below of a job I did yesterday where the beds were overrun with weeds). I can switch between the string trimmer & edging attachment in less than two minutes, and unlike most power tools that accept attachments the unit still feels solid without any discernible loss in power. The string trimmer is so powerful it will take small chunks of concrete out of cracked sidewalks if you're not careful. It cranks easily each time. I use a pre-mixed high-octane 50:1 fuel mix which seems to work best.

              Good Quality
The PAS-225SB is perfect for light duty maintenance of regularly maintained yards, it works well with a single string / two cutting line head, and is very lightweight. The PAS-225 also shares the attachments with the PAS-266. If you need more power the PAS-266 is a much better choice for heavy clearing jobs in overgrown areas and wont bog down on two string / four cutting line heads like the PAS-225 does. I use the premix 92 Octane Ethanol Free Fuel that comes in a can and always swap out the factory head in favor of push load heads, details below. Rino-Tuff Push-N-Load Trimmer Head, for the PAS-225 (Sold at Home Depot) Shakespeare Push-N-Load Trimmer Head, for the PAS-266 (Sold at Lowes)

I have only used my ECHO PAS three times since purchasing it in June, I have used the trimmer twice for a total of about 2 hr 15 min and the edger for about 40 min. Both attachments have worked flawlessly and have more power than I expected! I really like the line feed on the trimmer, it feeds easily with a firm bump on the ground. The attachments are easy to change and it starts with one or two pulls. So far, I love it!
