3 Months & No Line
Worked fine for 3.5 months...then the cut line spool would no longer accept the cutting line. One side still works, but other side doesn't. Had to unscrew disk and remove old line. Teeth inside for line no longer works. Horrible design. Can no longer use. Guess I am stuck, no apparent warranty coverage. Greg L. California

Waste of time and money, DONT BUY!!!
The line runs out constantly, gas can leaks, can’t imagine how small a job has to be for this trimmer to make sense. It’s garbage.

      taming the Hawaii jungle.
I dont care abou the other reviews. This thing kicks butt! if you take care of it! Light weight and keeps running! The rapid replacement head is kinda a pain in the butt. But I cut 14/16 lengths a head of time. I have a half acer and I am always fighting this jungle. I am more than happy with this product!

        Had to return it
Started leaking from the engine area after two weeks of use. End up returning it and buying a SRM 225. The SRM 225 is great. When looking at the picture, I had wiped down the area once but it started leaking again.

Inefficient - wasted $ and time!
I bought this tool based solely on Echo’s reputation for quality. I paid more for this brand / model vs. others on the retail display rack believing it was the best performance / value option. Apparently this was a wrong decision. Problem 1 - the line cord requires near immediate replacement. I’m using the .095 recommended Echo brand / thickness and within a few short minutes (sometimes seconds) replacement line is needed. Don’t even bother using it along a sidewalk or fence! The only solution I’ve found is to lessen up on the throttle which is a performance inefficiency and does not always extend cord life. A more durable cord design might be a solution. Problem 2 - the line cord remnants occasionally jam inside the head assembly and cannot be easily removed with a pliers or small nosed tool. The jam prevents new line from being inserted. Major pain! Inefficient! Awful waste of valuable time! Memorial Day weekend I was forced to work with line of cord inserted instead of a more efficient two!

Too difficult to use for edging
The quality and features of this GT-225 are the same as the straight shaft SRM-225, so I gave this one 3 stars because of how difficult it was to use, not the quality. Description says the curved shaft is good for shorter people. My 5'2" wife is a wonderful edger,... with a straight shaft. Turning this curved trimmer sideways to edge (vertical edge), it was almost impossible to edge consistently from that offset-view perspective (see image). Also, reorienting the front handle to use for edging, and tightening the wingnut hard, the curved shaft and head adds too much off-center weight causing the handle to slip around the shaft. Quality is good, but usability for other than flat trimming (i.e. edging) is poor. I will be returning it and buying the straight shaft.

            Great string trimmer
The weed wacker was great, very light weight and easy to handle. Hard to start but once you get the hang of it, runs very well

It works for a regular lot
The string trimmer was great for what I need single family home. The initial first start up of the trimmer the hassel, I was there for 15 minutes cranking it on cold start then moved it to run and started cutting like a champ.Light weight and since its curved it help with you back.

                Very satisfied
I just purchased my 2nd GT-225 and I know I am going to say a few things that flow in a contrary direction to some of what I see in some of the reviews, but I hate to see folks knocking a good and reliable product when they illustrate by what they say that they don't know how to use a product correctly. Case in point, if you don't like changing the trimmer line manually, then why buy a unit with a Rapid-Loader head? Disliking a particular design does not mean there is a problem with the unit. Get a unit with the Speed-Feed 400 instead. OK, on with the review... I use my GT-225 for a home with a yard that is close to 1/2 acre. The lightest duty I use the trimmer for is to trim grass near fence lines. But I primarily use the unit to edge along the driveway, walkways, flower beds and the street. I actually replaced a 5HP metal-blade edger with the GT-225 for this purpose. And when I do edging, I don't just skim the surface, I cut 1/2"-1" into the dirt along the edge line (see attached photo). This is NOT light-duty use and I have NEVER had a problem with either of my two units (and the reason I bought a second unit is because the first unit keeps getting borrowed...). I personally prefer the Rapid-Loader due to its simplicity, but you should choose what works for you. If you want to add line with a bump, then get a trimmer with the Speed-Feed 400, or get one of those heads for the GT-225. Echo trimmers are professional grade tools and like virtually any other device in the world of tools, if you take care of your tools, they will typically take care of you. But if you let the head get caked in mud and allow the mud to dry on the head, then you should expect to have a problem. That is a problem caused by improper use, not a faulty product or design issue. One more thing. I pre-measure and pre-cut about 2 dozen lines off a large spool and keep them handy. Each time I get out to do the yard, I make sure I have two good lines on the Rapid-Loader and I put two extra lines in my pocket. I have never needed more than this to do the entire yard - including all the edging when the ground is dry and more firm. Because I know I am using the trimmer to do edging, I use heavy duty .105 line with sharp ridges on the line. I can easily cut several inches into the ground with this type line. I know the GT-225 is not sold as an edger, but this is what I have been doing with my GT-225's for several years and I have yet to have a problem. So, just wanted to let you know about my experience.
