what is the difference in use in the tube throttle and the hip throttle pros and cons would be useful
Asked by: msJ
The only difference between the "H" and "T" blower models is the location of the throttle. The throttle for the "H" model is located at the hip. The throttle for the "T" model is located at the tube. It is based on personal preference.

The PB-580T will have the throttle located on the tube. The PB-580H will have the throttle located at the hip. There is not benefit from one to the other. It is personal preference.

ECHO 215 MPH 510 CFM 58.2 cc Gas 2-Stroke Cycle Backpack Leaf Blower with Hip Throttle is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 110.

My first died after 16 years of use and actually due to operator error as someone filled it with fuel without the oil additive. This new and improved version is an absolute pleasure to operate, has great comfort features, and is very powerful. If you are looking for a machine that will wade through the deepest pile of wet leaves, sticks, and debris, the Echo 580 will get the job done before you're ready to quit. My wife says I look for excuses to use it, like blowing the car dry after washing. Lol My only recommendation is don't loan it to anyone without proper fueling instructions!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of equipment Due to very little time off this fall I decided to buy an echo pb- 580h backpack leaf blower to help with the leaves. I had some buyers remorse for about 20 minutes until I got home and took it out of the box and put it together. This thing moves leaves like nobody's business, I can only imagine what the higher grade models can do. Overall I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this blower to anyone. Another great product from echo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I had purchased years ago I've had a handheld blower for years and never liked it much because it didn't have enough power. This leaf blower has enough power to make the blower useful. It moves a lot of air and I can now clean up the yard in a reasonable amount of time. The 580t starts up quickly and run well with very little warm up so you can get started quickly and not go through the hassle of the engine stalling and having to remove the backpack blower to restart. So far very impressed with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time Saver I just purchased this blower today and put it right to work. I have about a 3/4 acre lot give or take surrounded by nothing but trees. I was taking a few hours to clear the lot of the leaves it was killing me. I thought there had to be a better way. The local landscaper uses and recommended this unit. Instead of having to bag and dump the leaves all I have to do now is blow the leaves back into the woods. This unit is well worth the money spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Echo Blows-- Like a Hurricane I ordered this before they were available, so I had to wait for it, but the wait was worth it. It was more quiet than I expected, and with the extra section of posi-lock pipe I ordered, I now have a blower that actually fits me. Even after lower back surgery 6 months ago I was able to use this model comfortably, even more so with full power than when idling. This fall I will have some "fun" with those nasty maples on the terrace !

Rated 3 out of 5 by from All platic All Plastic, but works well. I don't think this should be advertised as a "Professional grade" leaf blower because of low cost construction. I recently bought one at HD but it seems very cheaply made compared to the Echo I bought 30 years ago. I think for home use it should be fine, but I don't think it will hold up too well if you are a professional. I know Echo will say plastic saves weight, but it also saves cost so what is the real motivation? For $300 it is a fair deal for home use, but the pro may want to pay more and get a more durable product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from its awesome More fun then work! Power is perfect unless you have wet pine needels then you gotta use your foot to loosen them up. And the throttle on the side instead of handle is great. Glad to not be swing tube and pushing button I can see finger getting cramped. Worth the few extra bucks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great blower This is my second Echo 580H blower, the first performed well for 6 years and would have probably kept going if I hadn't added plain gas and warped the piston. Consistent start, good weight, reasonable DB level, I prefer the separate throttle so my hand doesn't go numb.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so great! Hard to start. Spent almost as much as it cost new to repair twice. Runs like a Pinto on 1 cylinder. Vibrates at slower speeds, (when I can get it to run that is). I hear these are great machines, but this reviewer has to argue with those folks. Never gonna buy another. Go electric. Corded may be a pain, but your arm and shoulder won't scream at you afterwards either and it tarts easily every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Backpack Blower Purchased this backpack gas blower from a dealer 3 weeks ago. I bought it after reading reviews and talking with an Echo user. This unit is simple to operate. It has enough power to blow even wet leaves. I have a third acre lot and my old electric blower would take about 6 hours to completely clear my lawn of leaves. My first use of my new echo resulted in a time of two and a half hours. My second use resulted in a 2 hour time to clear all the leaves. I like the ease with which I can change the air cleaner, spark plug and fuel filter. My only suggestion would be for the company to add a waist - chest strap which would help keeping the shoulder straps from sliding off my shoulder. Other than that, it's nice to by something that is well made and really delivers . Getting rid of the leaves is now fun and less time consuming.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from powerful but! I bought it at end of summer last year, it sure takes Echo a while to ask how it works! Anyway,, it really cranks out the air. my issues with it are two fold: besides the incredible noise(ear protection absolutely manditory); the unit is ( in my view) inordinately heavy. I am 6 ft 177 , lean and very fit, and an hour and a half of road work blowing leaves left me ready for the chiropractor. So be warned, it is not for a fragle or out of shape user and not I learned for long extended use with big breaks. And 2, the shoulder strap is tricky to get on and for long torso me totally inadequate because it don NOT have a breast strap to keep the harness from spreading and trying to come off my shoulders. I have to use a strap at the top to serve as a breast strap(old belt or velcro strapping). And remember this juryriging has to be done as you strap in with THE UNIT RUNNING. Total pain in the buttocks. If echo decides to upgrade the harnes I will buy the whole new setup. But, it is efficient on gas, and starts easy, both very positive elements. I would probably buy something smaller and lighter and quiter if I were to do it again ( which I wont)but, I will adapt and suck it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super blower I own the hand held echo blower/vac but got tired of changing back and forth every time I did my lawns so I purchased the 580H and now I don't switch the hand held. The PB-580H is a fantastic machine! Starts on the first pull and has power to burn. Very comfortable to wear and operate. I can't say enough about this blower, best buy I ever made. Thanks Echo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Echo PB-580H leaf blower The box stated it was a PB-580H/T so I was not exactly sure what I had till I got home and opened it up. It was a PB-580H. After putting it together, which took about 20 minutes because I always read the instructions, I filled it with gas and started it. It runs fine and really does blow leaves really well. I like the unit. If I have one complaint it is that I think it needs either a hip belt or a strap between the shoulder harnesses. The right side strap always stayed on my shoulder but the left kept drifting off my left shoulder and the weight started hurting the left shoulder. I could not keep it on that shoulder no matter how I adjusted the straps, which are kind of hard to figure out how to use. Eventually I went and got a short bungee cord and used that in the front to keep the straps up on my shoulders. That worked really well and quit hurting my left shoulder. I have run maybe 5 or 6 tanks of fuel through this machine and I am impressed with how well it works compared to blowers I have used in the past. I like the job it does. Now, I hope it holds up and runs for many years to come. I wasn't sure I would like the trigger on the left arm (hip control) instead of on the blower handle but once I got used to it I like it. I am blowing about 3 acres of lawns so it gets used quite a bit. Definitely worth the cost if it holds up. I would recommend this machine.
