Great support by echo
Ok this is my review and I’m sure others will agree and disagree. I see the flaws in this sprayer like the plastic ball inside the pump. Why not put a ceramic ball in it. I would pay the extra $1 for it. The straps are the most poorly designed flaw on this sprayer. It always snaps undone and because of that it dropped on the floor and busted the nipple on the pump were the hose go in. Echo replaced it under warranty. The plus is that it is powerful

Poor quality
I'm a fan of Echo brand, all my equipment is Echo, but in this case I'm very disappointed, I bought a backpack sprayer and every time when I used the hose comes out from the connection and spille herbicide every where.

Apparently this is not really an ECHO product as it is rebranded and ECHO customer support doesn't acknowledge it. A supreme waste of $100.
Went to use it for the first time this season and after pressurizing, the handle split under the trigger causing weed killer to be sprayed all over my face and body.

Broken hose
This product is a total disaster. Used it once and worked fine. On the second use the house could not take the pressure and broke at the connection point spilling insecticide all over my back. How do they use glue to put together a hose ? Spend almost $100 for nothing. Piece of garbage. !!!

stay away
broke on the second use, took it apart and found a plastic "screw: piece was broke in half. took pictures, sent info to Echo support. received email pretty much saying "oh well" gave me a phone number for help. turned out to be a parts house for many brands of power equip. they looked up Echo dealer in town that I have to go to. I expected better service from a brand like Echo. will have to pay to get the piece of crap repaired. will NEVER buy another Echo product. hope the dollar they saved for the plastic piece makes them happy

The ECHO 4 Gal. Internal Piston-Pump Back Pack Sprayer was simple to put together as it only took me about 5 minutes. It is light weight and the hose is long enough to reach overhead spots which I needed to spray. I have used the sprayer on my lawn, bushes and even on some fruit trees. Just a few pumps and I'm able to reach the top of the fruit trees. I've used several other sprayers in the past and this one for the cost is more efficient. Even when totally full the sprayer is light weight and also very easy to clean and store for your next use.

The most painful backpack sprayer I've ever tried to use. The hard plastic base, on my - 5'11" 200+ lbs., body kills my lower back/butt. The rim cuts into my back right around my butt where is rests/rides on. The lip cuts into my back and it pushs down my pants no matter how tight my pant belt is. I've tried adjusting the straps, but it continued to cut into my back. The negative is the pump handle is too close to my/your body. The unit appears to be designed for skinny people who don't fill the sprayer up to the top with water/chemicals. With the pump systemm, you do have to constantly pump. The pump holds a small amount in the chamber and once you start spraying, you have to keep on pumping to refill the chamber. I've found I much prefer the pressurized tank style sprayer. For the same amount of money, I've found the Field King Max sprayer does a much better job, has a SS metal wand and much more comfortable strap and back brace and hip wrap padding. If you're going to be spraying anything larger than a track home yard, it is a better option. I've got 2.5 acres to maintain and comfort is of prime importance. This Echo is a killer for me. It got returned and a Field King Max has replaced it. If you're skinny, you might be able to fit this sprayer. I don't. Your mileage may vary.

Misleading information on website & box contradict ECHO MS-402 Backpack Sprayer Operators Manual
HomeDepot.com website says ECHO MS-402 backpack sprayer is "...safe to use with bleach."
Large letters on front of ECHO MS-402 packaging says "FOR USE WITH LIQUIDS, BLEACH & WATER SOLUBLE SOLUTIONS." Inside the box is ECHO MS-402 Operators Manual, with a page one caution: "DO NOT spray flammable, caustic (i.e. acids, chlorines and bleach) corrosive or self-heating solutions with the either sprayers." WHAT?! Echo's and Home Depot's marketing people need to communicate with the technical folks. Technical folks need to proof-read packaging text. Looks like Home Depot and Echo both screwed up on this. And, on ECHO's website, the MS-402 is conspicuously unsupported (not even mentioned)! "Most disappointing," I say (with restraint).
