How long does the blade cutter (10 inch, 80 tooth) last? and where can I buy a replacement blade? Do I need to buy a spare/replacement blade cutter at the time I order the equipment?

    Answer This Question

A new blade will last for about 1/2 tank of gas. A little more than an hour. That cuts probably 1000 s.f. of brush and scrub oak (up to 2" diameter). So, plan on 2 blades per tank of gas.

Hi Jerry! Thank you for your question. The ECHO 10", 80 Tooth Brush Blade doesn’t have a fixed lifespan, since its durability depends heavily on how and where it’s used. In normal conditions, such as cutting grass, weeds, and light brush while avoiding rocks, soil, and other hard debris, the blade can last a long time with proper maintenance and periodic sharpening. The part number for the blade is, Part #69500121431.

        SRM -410U brush cutter
The brush cutter is so strong I rarely had to go full throttle. The blade that comes with this unit easily cut through small oak, sweet gum, and yaupon trees.

A beast to be reckoned with
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family recently purchased an acre with many fruit and citrus trees, but was also mostly overgrown with 6'-12'+ of guinea grass. I have 1000's of hours clocked in to previous weed whacking experience with 350's of another brand, but this SRM-410U is the beast! It, with a .175 line, dependably slices through this grass like you need it to. It is on the heavy side. I had to adjust the handle mechanism on the shaft up closer to the power source and push the handle bars away, as well as move the harness attachment so as better balance the weight. Overall, I love it!!!

          Initial Impression- Exceeds expectations
After three days use now, I’ve been impressed that I can get three or four hours of cutting on a tank of gas. The SRM-410U certainly has the power to cut through three to four stalks of 3/4-1” diameter brush, almost-dead Cat's Claw and Scrub Oak, with a single swipe. It also cuts OK through 2-3” scrub oak, but there is a tendency for the blade to bind when cutting in from the “outside” of the tree, unless you make wedge cuts, or can get access to the core of the trunks. I've found that I need to swap/sharpen the 10” 80-T blade everyday, but I’m cutting in a 99% granite environment. I also tried the 8” 22T brush blade which cuts great for a short while, but gets dulled quickly with even minor excursions into the granite dust. I also purchased the 4 point premium shoulder harness which really distributes the brush cutters weight well. The only time I notice the machines bulk is when I’m opening the latch on the harness with one hand while holding the cutter by its support chain with two fingers while trying to get it secured into the harness catch. The SRM-410U looks and feels to be a top-quality product and has exceeded my expectations so far.

SEE Pics they do say what I can't. Unit was easy to assemble took no more then 30 minutes with customizing for my "fit". Started flawlessly and runs great. I have used it two days and must say I'm impressed. I'm not a tree guy or anything special just a normal 53 yr old. The harness that comes with the unit renders it almost weightless you will be surprised I was. Watch the straps/padding on shoulder they do tend to move down with movement easy fix safety pin. Yes, I'm tired it will work you. I have had this Echo for 2 days and am loving every minute. It took me awhile and if your reading this I read the reviews too and it helped me make my decision. I hope the pics help. :) Good luck.

            Incredible Capability!
I have a significant amount of cedar (invasive juniper) to clear on my property. Trees range from 1" -12" in diameter. Obviously I can't cut the big trees with this brush cutter, but for anything up to about 2.5" this tool is an absolute dream! I did replace the standard cutting blade with an 80 tooth carbide tipped blade, and we made short work of the small juniper trees mixed in with all the large ones. A tank of gas lasted for over an hour so I was able to stay on task and cut cedar instead of having to continuously refuel. The provided harness is a must because the tool gets heavy nearing the end of the fuel fill, but once I balanced the tool on the single point attachment, the ergonomics were fine. I have heard that Echo has modified their 2-cycle engines to accept ethanol gas and I was very pleasantly surprised to find this apparently true. For three weeks of cutting, and too many refuelings to count, the tool started each time on the first or second pull. I did slightly downgrade on ease of use, but to be fair, any 6' tool attached to your hip will be a bit cumbersome. Echo has done a good job with the guidance handles, but you do have to pay attention. The ability to keep on the move while clearing cedar proved invaluable to me and my work partner. We'd choose a chunk of land, clear all the little stuff, then come back with a chainsaw. Not having to use the chainsaw on the small stuff was a life (and back) saver. I wholeheartedly recommend this tool to landowners who have a real clearing job in front of them!

I wanted a powerful tool to cut thick brush quickly and that is what I got. It has been effective on unwanted ground cover. It is still a workout for me. The harness is needed to hold it up but putting on the taking off the harness is difficult. I wish it had snap buckles to put on. Instead it has tighten straps.
