Light-weight AND powerful!
What more could you ask for out of a trimmer?!? It is light-weight, but has enough power to get the job done. Assembly was easy and the battery was charged in less time than advertised AND lasted longer than I needed it to.

Got the job done!
I totally pushed my trimmer to the limits! I drained and charged the battery three times to accomplish this task. Trimming times lasted about 35 minutes estimated. (Wasn't really paying attention to the time.) The trimmer cut all but the thickest brush. 1/4" stalks and thicker were being cut at the expense of the nylon string. I used ALOT of string! ...but no mercy! While the batteries were recharging it gave me a brake from the sun and a chance to rake up the cut grass. I would definitely recommend this product. I do wish the string bump was a bit looser but I've heard that the string is wound pretty tight from the factory. Not a deal breaker for me. It just took a bit of patience to manually press the green bump button and pull the string out.

Awful bump feed
The bump feed sticks and does not feed the line. I've tried loosening up the wind and have also tried a non grooved line, but neither has solved the issue. I would not recommend this unit.

Powerful trimmer
I've had this trimmer for 3 years and have been happy with it for the most part. It is very powerful and the battery life is excellent. It is also reasonably light and easy to handle. The only problem I have had is with the string advancing mechanism. Most of the time I have to tap the head very hard 5 to 10 times on the ground to get the string to advance. At times, I have had to pull the string by hand to advance it. I'm afraid I'll damage the trimmer at some point just trying to advance the string.

Ideal Trimmer for Manicured Yards
This was my first Ego purchase, and I have continued to buy another line trimmer, a mower, blower, and chainsaw from Ego. The snap down metal guard on this trimmer is really nice for trimming around posts, trees, and vulnerable garden and flower plants. I bought the second 15 inch line trimmer because I was taming a jungle yard during a remodel in Alaska, where the weeds grow incredibly fast in the summers. The larger trimmers do much better in the tall weeds that I sometimes have to work, but I miss using this 12" unit when it comes to not getting flipped by flying debris, or not accidentally damaging posts or plants. This is a superior trimmer if you are primarily doing detail edging with grass along fences and gardens. If you have a jungle job, definitely go with the Ego 15 inch models for more power and reach.

Still Assessing
The trimmer took awhile to arrive. There were no instructions in the box, but it is simple to put together. It does the job nicely except for one thing - the bump device that extends more line doesn’t work. I have to take the head off, extend the line, put the head back on ... I have taken the head apart to make sure the line was installed correctly, watched 30 videos to find other possible causes. Nope - not working.
I should return it but like the machine overall. My wife says I’ll never figure it out. I’ll show her.

Mostly good.
Have had this trimmer for over two years and it works well. The only detractor is the poly line that trims. It is a real pain to adjust and reload.

Great decision and excellent value
I bought the EGO mower and the trimmer at the same time about 2 years ago and have been using both relatively maintenance free since purchase. I have had to replace the spool from the weed eater three times now, it is not as easy as other trimmers I have used in the past, but not difficult either.
This thing has quite a bit of power behind it too, I have not had any limitations to this trimmer when compared to my previous gas trimmer, and have been impressed by the run time that I can get out of a single charge. If you are doing more than just trimming around your driveway, fence, and a few trees, then you should consider getting a second battery. One charge tends to last me about 15-20 minutes.
