Questions & Answers

Does the $299 include the battery pack and charger?

Asked by: Gmama
Yup. Battery and charger come with this package--there is a cheaper package without the battery/charger if you already have them.

Will Juniper ruin this saw? [it hasn't been kind to a pole saw, a couple buck saws] Is this thing strong enough to cut Juniper up to 3-4 inches in diameter, or should I move up a model? I have the snowblower and mower, so have 7.5 and 5.0 Ah batteries available, but my understanding is those only extend cutting time. I see the chain is Oregon, would any chain, specifically a chisel type [for really hard woods such as Juniper] fit this saw, should I buy it and gum the thing up or dull it so bad the chain needs replacement?
Asked by: petomane
I have cut live oak and peach trees with no issues. I have also cut cedar limbs with no problem. Don’t know if this helps but that’s all I have cut.

Chainsaw won't cut after chain came off..could i have put it on bacawards.??

Asked by: Pilot
The chain is probably on backwards. The angled cutting teeth should be facing away from the body of the saw. It’s an easy mistake to make. Look on YouTube for a tutorial.

In comparing the 2.0 Ah vs the 5.0 Ah batteries, does the larger battery provide only a longer run time or does it allow the chainsaw to draw more power?
Asked by: Miner
Larger capacity batteries last longer. I have a number of EGO tools. When the battery in one needs recharging, I temporarily replace it with an identical or smaller capacity battery. I will not put a larger (and heavier) lawn mower battery in a chainsaw because it changes the balance point of the tool. I value my hands and feet much more than taking a chance on gaining a cut or two more. I suggest you purchase a second battery. Finally, when a running chain binds it will increase the current draw of the motor but as soon as the chain starts to run, the current flow returns to normal.

Charged the battery up, put some oil in the chainsaw and started having fun cutting down some small trees lining the side of our property. The chain did get stuck in some of the thicker trees. The chain also picked up some vines, but all in all. The chainsaw did a good job in what we need it for. You're not going to be a lumberjack, but it was great for cutting down smaller trees and thick brush. There were times you will be wanting more power, but isn't that usually the case? I'm not sure if the bigger chainsaw will help on the power desire. The chainsaw is lightweight and a lot quieter than a gas model. It was nice not dealing with loud noise and obnoxious fumes. The battery did last 30 minutes, power started diminishing around 20 minutes. Which could be the culprit for binding my chain a couple of times. I suggest replacing the battery around the 20 minute mark to keep the chainsaw at its peak performance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Interesting Idea but very poor battery life I bought this chainsaw in 2017 or 2018 and only use it for camping to buck up some firewood. I have many years of experience using gas powered saws and was very disappointed in the battery life of this saw, as many others have been in these reviews. Last week was the first time I really needed it to cut more than a couple of times so I hadn't tested it's battery until last week. It was freshly charged and the saw is perfectly maintained, almost new still, and I could only make about 12 cuts, (on varying diameter logs, from 5 - 10 inches across,) before it died. 12 cuts~!!!! for over $450 for this saw!!! I just can't believe it! The bar chain oil was only 1.5-2 cm from being completely full when I opened the cap and the battery was dead! This is what $450 gets you these days? Don't buy this saw. I have yet to attempt customer service but my chainsaw needs are now, for tomorrow, and now this saw won't do the job I expected it would. Disappointing

Was a little skeptical at first, but because a friend recommended it over Stihl or some of the other brands I tried it and the battery powered weed eater. The Battery powered 40V system I wasn't impressed with. The E Go system has run stronger and longer. The chainsaw has cut down up to 12 inch trees with no problems. Includes cutting them up for burning. Keep the chain sharp and chain oil and no issues with gas or power. Extra battery's will be needed if you have a full days worth of work but the battery's are quick charge so usually isn't an issue with just two batteries.

I have a couple older gas chain saws that have been giving me trouble so I decided to give this one a try. Not as powerful as gas but a good workhorse. I haven't put it to the real test yet but so far it has met my needs. It cut through a tree very quickly and helped me trim down several branches with ease. Will start trying a few of the other EGo products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ego Power Chainsaw I wanted this for Christmas, yes a 56 year old lady wanted her own chainsaw! My husband wasn't to keen on the idea at first, he is a Stihl man. He did get it for me, and now I have to pry it from him to use. I really like being able to push a button and it will start. It is much quieter and no oil and gas smell. We own 61 acres and we are working on removing junk trees and improving our forest. It is great for the work I am doing, where I am only making a few cuts at a time, before I do it again. Love pushing the button to start and not having to leave the old saw running because you don't want to pull start it again. I use it also for cutting firewood and it works great. My only problem is that now my husband wants to use it too, so my charge doesn't last as long when it is just me using the saw. So I think he should get me another battery!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nicely designed chainsaw Very nice design. I would give 5 stars except for two faults: 1) Included battery is smallest capacity (2AH) and not really worth the money when options of 4AH to 7.5AH exist. Best to purchase saw sans battery and get a higher capacity battery and faster charger. The 2AH only cuts for 5-10 minutes max, 2) Required items are not included. After receiving saw you will need to purchase bar-chain oil and sprocket grease. At least enough to get started should be included. Final note: the recommended bar-chain oil is Echo but that is poor advice. Echo oil clogs the chain faster requiring more cleanings, costs more, and comes in a container that is hard to pour. The Home Depot brand directly next to Echo is cheaper, lasts longer, clogs less frequently, and pours easily from the container whether full or nearly empty. Great saw. Very nice to carry into tree. Far safer than gas powered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I agree with everyone else Got the lawn mower first. Have a huge yard and it works great on a single charge. Then got the blower. Then the chainsaw. All the other reviews are correct this thing is awesome. I am a heavy duty weekend warrior and have never had a problem with battery time. I did learn something though. This should come in handy. The lawn mower is 4ah and if you buy the other products with the battery included they are only 2 Ah. I had no idea what that was. It's amp hours. All the batteries provide the same power but not as much time. So luckily for me I bought the lawnmower first with the larger battery and run time. That will get me through anything. And just in case I have a couple of other spares. So if you are considering these kind of products I would recommend getting the lawnmower first and adding things as you go along. Because once you buy one you're going to want them all. And right now things are better priced at the end of the season. Just do it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pros - quiet compared to a gasoline powered chainsaw -... Pros - quiet compared to a gasoline powered chainsaw - no combustion fumes Cons- run time is lacking. I could have finished the job with one tank of fuel using a gasoline powered chainsaw but the battery was depleted with about 25-percent of the project remaining. Fortunately, I had borrowed battery from someone with another EGo product so I was able to finish without having to wait for the battery to recharge. - more cutting effort required than a gasoline powered chainsaw - delayed start compared to a gasoline powered chainsaw Recommendation - product really needs two batteries to be comparable to a gasoline powered product
