How long does a charge last for?

I'd be really surprised if you could run it at 2000w with only one battery. I would expect that you would need 4 batteries to get that sustained power. The math by other reviewer is theoretical, and in the real world, it would be less than those durations due to voltage sag. The whole 56v is just marketing as that is the voltage hot off the charger. I'm sure voltage during use is closer to 48-52v.

In a power failure situation, how long would the Nexus be able to power a full size refrigerator if there were two batteries, a 7.5Ah and a 5Ah, connected (I have two batteries from other Ego tools)? How about with four 7.5Ah batteries?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is unbelievable The sine wave on this unit is better than the power companies. It is so pure that zooming in on the oscilloscope shows absolutely no digital signal. It's a true pure sine wave inverter. I had to disconnect the power to my shed for a while, luckily I have this and hooked it up to my breaker panel (I do not recommend doing this) and I'm back in business. I can run my 2hp tablesaw on it no problem. I'm absolutely blown away ego. The only downfall is that it is too good, which brings the price up a lot. But you only need to buy it once and if you saved a couple hundred dollars by going to a modified sine wave, that might just be a disapointment. Pure sine wave inverter - Awesome Bluetooth and wifi - Awesome Weight (a byproduct of the quality of the electronics) - justified No cons. It's pretty much the best thing ever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Capable but limited The unit seems well built. I gave it 4 stars for it's idea and design. I am relative happy with it but it could be better especially for the price. At this price it should come with 4 batteries. One of the big benifits is you can use it inside no gas fumes. In my opinion it is better for operating lower wattage devices such as LED TV, Laptop charging and sensitive electronics and emergency stiuations. It's very limited when operating higher wattage devices such as refrigerator. It won't run them very long. Also recharging the batteries takes too long 8+ hours. However, there is a fast charger available. I'm hoping the batteries will come down in price. They are too expensive for their capacity. All in all i'm going to keep it and I'm pretty happy with it. It meets a couple of my objectives to be able to recharge laptop computer, run my internet router and TV in emergency. also recharge phones and other eletronics. Extra batteries are going to be required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet, pure sine wave power. Very nicely designed product. Attractive. Highly functional. I have other EGO products so the battery interchangeability is a big plus for me. I only have one complaint. We need a fast charger. With 4 7.5 Ah batteries the charge time is 12 to 13 hours. Way too long. I also have one item on my wish list. Please develop a solar charge capability. In a long term grid down situation I have no way to recharge my unit and once the batteries are depleted it becomes useless to me.

Liked the idea of something to use inside to run fans, lights, etc at night. Luckily did not have to use for that, but have used for some outside use working at my mother's house we are working on. She has no outside outlets and this has really come in handy for running some of the tools we needed outside instead of running large extensions cords out of the house. Have used twice and has done the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Portable Power on the Go As an owner of many EGO tools, I have amassed quite a number of batteries ranging from a 2.5, 4.0, 5.0 and 7.5 Ah. Outside of summer yard work & winter snow blowing, I have no use for these batteries otherwise. After the launch of the Nexus Portable Power Station, I decided to wait a little longer before pulling the trigger. Having read many reviews on the product, I decided it was time to purchase it. The purpose of use for me is the quick portable power on the go, when a power receptacle is not available. For example, when I am working in the backyard, I used to drag my power cord from the garage all the way to the back. With this power station, I now have immediate access to power to charge my smaller electronic devices. Another area of use for me is the many road trips my family take. When we travel by car, we always bring an electric cooler to keep our food & beverage cold. With the power station, we can now use it to run the cooler, as well as charge other devices (i.e. cell phone, ipad and laptop computers). One of the best features of this power station is "how quiet" it is when charging. If you put your ear towards the back by the air vent, then you will hear a small fan sound; otherwise, you will not hear much at all. In the 10+ years where I live, we had one power outage which lasted over an hour. Thus, I never thought to buy a "traditional" gas generator. I have never own one and don't have a need for it; therefore, I am not an expert in this department. But if I have another power outage in the near future, then I would use this power station to run small electronic devices (i.e. cable modem, wireless router, telephone, lamps, TV, etc...). The obvious advantage to using this power station inside is the lack of gas fume & loud generator sound. With every new product, there are features that will be good for some and not so much for others. Since this is a "first" generation power station from EGO, I am certain they will incorporate additional features in future models. For now, I plan to use this power station as described from above. If I feel adventurous in the near future, then I will experiment different uses and will post an updated review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ego 3000 watt Power Station The new batteries with power meter is a really great improvement over the older style batteries. I like that I can use 4 batteries to power AC equipment. One complaint about how the charging works, is that it does not change one battery and then move to the second battery. It will charge about 20% then switch to the next battery and do so through all batteries connected then cycle through them again. When I am mowing and I use up two batteries, I want it to fully charge the one battery before moving to the next one. So, I can only put one battery on at a time. Otherwise it takes about 20 hours to charge four batteries. I have not used it to power ac equipment much. I tried it on a few things like fans, refrigerators and an electric space heater, but the cooling fan makes some noise and so unless using it in a room that we are not spending time in, I will not be using it. I think it will be a great asset if the utility power fails this winter to keep the refrigerator and freezer running but not for every day use in the summer. It would also be great for outdoor activities when ac power is not available. I still think this is a great addition to all my other tools: mower, snow blower, leaf blower, string trimmer, pole saw and two chainsaws.
