Can I leave the battery in the charger all off-season, or will it self-discharge/recharge and negatively impact charge cycle life? I'm asking because it seems I've lost charge time since last season, and wondering if leaving the battery in the charger all winter was a mistake.
Asked by: Andy
Yes, the manual recommends leaving the battery in the charger over the winter. It discharges to about 30% and holds steady at that level over the winter. A light flashes; so, don't put it where the light will bother you.

What is the life of the battery in hours?
Asked by: DE
I've been using this battery in the self-propelled EGO mower for almost two seasons now, and I still get about 1 hour of mowing out a fully charged battery. I stored it in my basement over the winter in the charger as the manual recommends. I like this mower a lot -- lighter weight than a gasoline one, throws off no heat, and is quieter than a gasoline mower. Highly recommended!

Why doesn’t the mower come with this new battery?

Why doesn’t the mower come with this new battery?
Asked by: Rick
Mine came with a 4 Amp hour battery. I bought a 5 Ahr the next year and alternate between the two to get the yard done. Looking at the 7.5 Ahr now because sometimes the break time to swap batteries is a bit inconvenient. The price may make me reconsider and go another season with the first two. Mower was $500 with 4 Ahr. The 5 Ahr was around $200 so already I'm in it for $700 but that extra $350 might be a step too far. I'd buy it if it were closer to $200. I've had to modify the mower a bit: to keep the side clamps from popping open accidentally I drilled a hole in the clamp handle and tied the two handles together. The rear discharge would clog up too easily so I drilled another hole in the sprung flap cover at the back and tied it to the cross beam on the handle so that the grass hits the flap after exiting but takes longer to clog up than when using the attachment to divert the discharge off to the side. I carry a rubber spatula to assist in de-clogging and I leave piles of clumped cut grass sometimes nearly every pass. The clogging is my only concern with the mower and if they offered one that discharged at the front of the mower instead, I'd prefer it to what I got. I sharpen the blade with a file every time I mow and try to get a good edge because the battery doesn't have to work as hard with a sharp blade.
