Avoid at all costs, wish I could rate negative
Not only will it not latch when the main entry door is closed but it is already broken! I purchased the door on 2/15, professionaly installed on 2/16, and today is 2/23. Trying to pull the screen down today and the entire thing broke off the track and the screen is separated from the metal. Trying to talk to HD was useless as the only option I was given was to return the door to the store. I paid to have this installed and now i need to remove it, return it, and pay to have a new one installed?

Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention. We are sorry to learn about the issue on the door. Adjusting different components of your storm door to allow for additional ventilation of the space between your storm door and entry door may reduce air and heat build-up between the two (2) doors. Depending on your storm door model, not all adjustments may be applicable. For storm doors with either single or dual-vent insect screens, allow the window to remain partially open (when conditions are suitable) when closing your storm door. We will create a feedback about your concern to further improve our products. - Irene AWEMCOMarketing

Had it a year and it falling apart.
We got this about a year ago as we were looking for a storm door for the back kitchen door with a retractable screen that goes into the door. This was what we were looking for. Installation overall was pretty easy. Love that it has a lock so we can have the screen down and no worry to have a breeze coming through the night. It was great this past fall and worked wonderful. Was great in keeping a barrier between the kitchen door and harsh winter. Now it is spring time and it is falling apart after about a year after purchase. The glass seal is failing and glass is tilting sideways. The metal also is not flush to the top anymore. Wish it would have lasted longer than just a year—very disappointed. We will have to replace this and it will not be with this brand.

We purchased two of these storm doors for our new greenhouse build, and let me tell you, they are a real hassle to install !! ..Home Depot add says 2hr installation, NOT!.. I've been a carpenter for 35+ years and built several of my own homes. The instructions are vague, and you definitely want to be sure before you go drilling holes! the same holes that should have been predrilled at the factory! these doors are designed to be either a right hand or left hand swing. Emco uses that for an excuse not to install the hinges at the factory. The instructions are not clear as to whether or not the hinge install is faced from the inside or the outside of the door. As such, be very assured that you are on the INSIDE of the door for the hinge install.. Secondly, the screen provided is a cheaply framed screen that rolls up inside the door frame! I'm thinkin that the Chinese were in on this design! ..it's crazy! what's going to happen when the screen's 'roll up mechanism' fails? and it will.. the screen will probably need to be cut out and destroyed, with a new framed screen replacement and some how fashioned to the doors frame.. which is what should have been the designed in the first place.. I'm not at all impressed with Emco's design efforts on this product.. no I wouldn't refer this product to anyone, especially if they are not well versed in carpentry skills..

        My door rotted away.
Please think twice about purchasing this door. I bought and installed mine 5 years ago and as you can see from the pictures, it's rotting away. The interior core of the door is made of something that absorbs water, it expands and causes deterioration of the door. Emco(Andersen) honored the warranty on replacing it but it's a long drawn out process that has taken over a month to get approved and will probably take another month actually to get my door as I will have to take a Warranty email I am supposed to receive to Home Depot and they they will order the door. As a note they will only replace the slab of the door. I have to reuse all the screws, hardware, trim and hinge . If I want all new hardware, it's another $66.00. They do have an upgrade option but I found it not worth the money. I was looking at an Andersen 2500 all aluminum door, the cost for this would be $232.00, only $60.00 less than purchasing it new. Guess I'll get the slab replacement and look for another brand when this rots away again. I've been dealing with Andersen products for years and prior to this have never had an issue

Has a design flaw, doesn't last, company doesn't care
I've had TWO of these doors, both custom ordered because of size and color. The first one, after 2 1/2 years, got water inside it and a baseball sized lump protruded out the front. After some haggling with Emco/Anderson, they agreed to replace the door under warranty. Almost 3 years to the day, this replacement one has failed as well; it's swollen to the side and will not close. I filed another refund/replacement as they claim to have a 10 year warranty, and they've denied replacing it, saying that they can't see that it's swollen. The door obviously must have a design flaw for the inside material to get wet like that and swell the door out, twice now. I have 3 others total (different models) with no issues, just this model. I won't be purchasing another one. I did a lot of research before I spent $450 on just one (of 4) storm doors, and bought this because of the energy efficiency aspect. But they do not stand by their warranty, so I'm done.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry for the inconvenience that this may have caused you. The entry door is considered the main line of defense in protecting your home from the outside elements. While installing a storm door helps to reduce the amount of air or water that reaches your entry door, it is important to keep in mind that your storm door is intended to reduce the amount of exposure your entry door has to the outside elements and may not prevent all water or air from reaching your entry door. In some weather conditions water may gather on the interior of the storm door. If this occurs, then the water should fall onto the angled entry door sill and drain away from the door. We are sorry, this issue is not considered a manufacturing defect and not covered under the limited warranty. - Irene AWEMCOMarketing

Great looking force door for the value.
With the help of my neighbor, the door was relatively easy to install. The door worked perfectly from the first week in May until today. This morning however, the plastic interior part of the door handle failed to work. The plastic handle and latch now fail to shut and latch to keep the door closed. I trust there is a replacement part that can be forwarded to me the will allow for the interior handle to once again work as advertised. The latching mechanism fails to return to the latched position.

              Love this door
Hi we’ve had the Emco 400 series ventilating storm door w/grill for 4yrs. Love this door! Unfortunately the wind from a storm bent the door. Do they still sell the same door with the grill?
