do the windows open?

Asked by: Buddy
Thank you for your inquiry. The EMCO 300 Series Colonial Triple-Track Storm Door has two ventilating windows for anytime ventilation. You do not need to take out the windows to open it and you can move it to different spaces to get different amounts of air flow. You may visit the nearest Home Depot store in your area to check the display doors. - Noel

I would like to replace my back door to the patio and get a storm door. Right now the dimensions of my door are 79 3/8" X 31 5/8". Does the dimensions of the storm door have to be the exact same size?
Asked by: ddw170
Thank you for your inquiry. The size of your door entry opening must meet the requirements in order to install a storm door. Based on the measurement that you have provided, you might require a custom size door to fit in your door opening. Please go to the nearest Home Depot store in your area and inquire about the door you like. Kindly provide the measurement of your door entry opening to the store associate to determine the correct size of door you need. 36 in. x 80 in. 300 Series Bronze Universal Triple-Track Aluminum Storm Door with Nickel Hardware is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 521.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bought this door about 6 years ago...and it's slowly rotting away! I purchased this door back in 2010. It was in stock and I wanted a back storm door so that I could enjoy the breeze that would blow through my back yard. The door installed easily and I even had my handyman install a bush on the bottom. 3 years later, I noticed what appeared to be bubbling in the paint at the base of the door. I left it alone then, but fast forward to today and you can see what has become of the door. Water has gotten inside of the door and is rotting it away from the inside out! I got on Home Depot's website and noticed that the EMCO/Andersen Doors customer service had actually responded to a few of the comments. I decided to give them a shot. Randi was very nice and she told me that my door has a 12 year warranty against defects! 12 years! Wow! She asked me a few questions, gave me some directions and I am soon to be on my way to getting a replacement. Sure I have a few hoops to jump through. I just hope that they've improved the quality in the past 6 years...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent door, but installation instructions - terrible. We thought this would be a breeze to install as this was a replacement for a previous door and we are pretty capable. THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ARE WRITTEN POORLY! The guide lines of the directions were all over the place and terminology could have been better. It even caused an argument. Once the door was installed we read the directions and looked at the template for the handle and could not believe how screwed up the template was. If we installed the handle as directed the door would not lock nor would it even close. We had to actually cut the template and move it over closer to the door opening. We hope that we will not have a future problem with this door, as people mentioned, about the swelling and rotting. That would be a nightmare. Paint the bottom of the door as we did to lessen the chance of this from occurring. I would also suggest sealing the brass plate too. Otherwise, the door looks nice, I just hope the quality of the door will match the appearance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality door for the price. The EMCO storm door is a heavy duty door with great features. Once installed it deadened the outside noise considerably. To avert the many times mentioned issue of the door’s lower panel rotting out I applyed silicone inside and out on the exterior door handle to seal it from rain getting in behind the handle. I also pulled the door edge trim off and sealed all the edges and re-installed the trim, also sealed around the glass frame. This should make the door water tight and impervious of the inclement weather. The installation is pretty intense and can be intimidating, if you read the instructions to the letter it should install perfectlly. Installing the storm door to a typical door jamb, the project went as expected. The only hitch i had with the entire install and it’s not even the manufacture’s problem was mounting the latch striker to the jamb. I had to get creative and add a thick shim to help stabilize the striker to the jamb for a more secure and hardened mount. Another resolve was with the required 5/8” drill bit...not a common size so I used a 3/8” bit instead. The holes were snug and made for a more exact fit to the door handle hardware. All in all the wife likes it so I’m happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible, do not buy! 2 years and they deteriorate. Specially ordered two 78” doors. They both rotted out the metal and one of the handles broke on the inside. Even better, we cannot find the receipt so Andersen wouldn’t replace them. Will never buy Andersen again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ordering third door in six years I am currently waiting for my 2nd replacement door in two years. Very poor design water infiltrates and freezes then breaks thru exterior skin of door. This time the door is spouting interior filler which is turned into a powder. I have asked for a credit to purchase parent company Anderson door , but was not given one. i'M glade I do have a professional who will install another replacement without charge. I will continue to request another door as needed every year until EMCO does not replace free of charge. Just. Very upset on EMCO storm doors. Great design just poorly built. I have supplied pictures to EMCO and have returned old doors to Homedepot to return to EMCO for further inspection but they continue to produce a inferior product I have the door installed by a professional with 40 years in the business. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product without quality and warranty We have in our house two door like this. One is rusty and bumpy (see pictures attached) and after we get in contact with the customer service, they just said what you can see below. This is bad, in addition these panels are not offered as a part for replacement. Therefore we have to buy a new door. Customer Services answers: 1st "We are sorry to learn that the panel is deteriorating but the warranty for door is not transferable. You may refer to the attached file for more information about the warranty." 2nd "The warranty only applies to the original purchaser of the door. The former owner of the house will not be able to file a claim for the door since they do not live on the house where the door is installed anymore. We are sorry but we are unable to provide you the cost of the panel since it varies. We suggest that you contact Home Depot or other Andersen dealer near your place."

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This door has a major design flaw - don't buy it! I am on my third replacement of this same door - each door only lasted about a year when it started corroding along the seals. Eventually spreading to a large portion of the lower panel. Apparently, water must get inside the door (faultyseal) and then the wood filler inside the aluminium expands destroying the lower panel. The warranty doesn't cover the installation charge of $97. and if you want to replace the entire door you have to pay the manufacturer $55. because the warranty doesn't include the hardware. After two bad doors I spoke to Emco and they advised me to upgrade to an all aluminium door without wood filler inside. So, now after spending $300. because of a manufacturer's bad design I have to spend more money to upgrade to a better door. Stay clear of this storm door!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible piece of junk BE WARE: We bought the door because of Andersen reputation. HA!! However, after we paid our installer $75 we found both windows stuck in down position. When trying to raise them, noticed both bent where it is supposed to go into the track and slide up and down. Now the beautiful frame is all scratched. I have spent hours on the phone with cust service (which are people who can barely speak English, I might add) and taking numerous photos of the defect/damage, receipts etc etc, emailing ALL REQUESTED info to get an email this morning NOW asking for me to get a level and place it on the door and send a photo. Seriously? HD has offered to replace the door, do, i think thats what we will do. But now we have to pay ANOTHER $75 to have the replacement door installed. Total $150 and we paid $200 for the door so, will be out $350 for a $200 door. If the star rating had less than 1, that is what it would get!!!
