With azaleas, flowers are kept in the plant stems. If you trim them too early you wont get a single bloom. Trim immediately after the flowers fade. You can shape them if you like at this time.

This Encore Azalea grows well in zone 6-9

Denver Colorado is planting zones 5 and 6 depending upon where exactly you live.

As long as they get plenty of sun and not too much water they should come back, the time it takes depends on the zone you live in. Once the start to come back sprinkle lightly with coffee grounds. I always save mine for my plants.

It can take upto a year for encore azaleas to fully establish their root systems.

I am in NC and I never water it in summer. Guess it will do well in CA if put it in a more shady spot.

This plant only grows in zones 6-9. Aurora, Colorado is in zone 5.

This plant is rated for zone 9-6A (6A's low range is -10 F). Your area should work well for this plant. I would recommend if your area sees 100's fairly often during the summers to limit the sun exposure to 4-5 hours of direct sun per day, and water a few times per week in the extreme heat
