The EVERMARK 44 in. x 1/2 in. matte black iron baluster is a metal baluster made for interior stair construction or when you need stair parts for remodeling an interior staircase. This baluster features a classic plain-shaft design in a black iron look that works with everything from classic, to modern, or even industrial, decor and styles. Our balusters feature a round pin on the top for easier installation into handrail, and you can accent your baluster with flat and angled shoes for added detail to produce a finished look to your stairs that will stand the test of time. These stair balusters can be cut to fit using common metal cutting blades. From stair treads, stair railing, and a complete selection of stair parts, EVERMARK has what you need to make your stairs beautiful.

A: Hi Annette, we suggest you contact the manufacturer of the stain as there are probably paint-removing solvents (paint thinner, water, etc) that they would recommend. Thank you.

A: Shoes are meant to cover the baluster hole along with any glue or Tap N Twist products are used to give a completed look. We don't recommend not using a shoe, however, its not imperative for the install of the baluster!

A: I would think so as the set screw is in the shoe.

A: My installer didn’t. He carved out the tread, inserted baluster then installed the railing to keep in place. Probably used glue at some point. It is very sturdy. I didn’t want the shoe either. I talked to people at the store and they recommended a tool to drill for the baluster but the installer preferred to chisel it out and I returned it.

I bought 21 of the 44 x 1/2in straight balusters for a level railing application in my Tri-Level ...

I bought 21 of the 44 x 1/2in straight balusters for a level railing application in my Tri-Level home. I just about cleaned out my Home Depot, and they didn't have enough of the shoes either. If you think you need a bunch, plan ahead and order. The reason for 4 stars is that about 25% of them were not quite straight. You can't really tell until you get them out of the individual bags... which is not very polite at the store. But, it was still a surprise. I still used them, and it's hard to tell. There are a couple choices for the "shoes", such as; 1/2 in. Matte Black Flat Metal Shoe, with the allen set screw, or a plastic slide-on shoe. I used both because of the inventory shortages at two stores. Each type works OK, but you need to pay attention to the cut length when using the plastic shoe on the round end.
