Can these posts be used on grass or asphalt? I want to make a free-standing handrail along an asphalt driveway. Several posts and an ADA handrail across the top, for about 45 feet. Would that work?
The post will work but the key is how they will be anchored. If you pour a cement pier, larger than the post and deeper than frost line, make a plywood template of the post hole pattern, then install anchor bolts using the template while the cement is wet should do it.

Can this post be used for a cable railing system? I'm needing a post that can withstand 300 lbs of force for each of the 10 cables that would be ran through it or attached to it. Thanks.
The post and base is very strong. Technically I can't answer the load limits, but I feel the anchors / and deck material would be the limiting factors! The anchors would fail before the post! I would recommend this post! I
I think you would need the post that goes with cable. We looked at many options including cable and got the railings, etc. that go with these posts. It looks great and functions great-love it.
Hi Tbird. This post has a .093" wall thickness and can only be used as a "pass through" or line post for cable rail. You can special order a thicker wall end/corner attachment post, (3/16" is what we used to sell with our cable rail system) by contacting us and we coordinate the sale through your local Home Depot Pro Desk. Which post to use on sloped/uneven surface? It says "Not recommended for slopes or uneven surfaces (use model# EZPCBZ)". I have very lightly but noticeably sloped concrete walkway. EZPCBZ doesn't appear a complete model number. Are the installation instructions for sloped surface?

It it possible to use lag screws instead of bolts to surface mount this post? I have an enclosed deck with no crawl space. There's a 4x4 in-between two joists to drill into.
If the post is centered on the 4 x 4 the lags will be too close to the edge and would have a tendency to break-out. If you can center the lags into the joists and / or the 4x4,s they should hold. I would be sure the lags are 3/4 " in from any edge.
Yes. I used. I used 2" x 1/4 lag screws to fasten post on hard wood floor for interior balcony. Very sturdy!
