          Works great!
This Etch and Clean for Concrete worked really great. I had to prep a concrete porch for a special paint job and it exceeded my expectations! I just followed the directions on the bottle. Since you are not supposed to let it dry, I worked on small sections at a time and it went smoothly. It did take me 3-4 hours to complete. 1 diluted gallon covers alot of area. Since my porch was so dirty, I went over it twice. You can tell by the black spot in the left top corner what a difference the 2nd wash made. I have no idea what that was, but have never been able to get it off the cement before. It was easy to mix and easy to apply with the sprayer. Wet the surface lightly, spray, scrub with a brush, rinse really well. Let dry before applying anything to the surface. As you can see by my pictures, my porch was a mess and so it was time to do something about it. This Etch and Clean got the prep work done and after applying special concrete paint, my porch looks brand new.

will lighten your acid stain color
I etched one room and did not etch the other before acid staining. The etched room came out a lot lighter than the non etched room. The etched room actually has a lot more color in it but i like them both. It is not muriatic acid so unless you really drench and let it sit there for a while you wont ruin the concrete. i sprayed a light coat broomed it around then neutralized right away.

Do not use for acid staining!
You cannot follow the directions on the bottle and get great results if you acid stain an interior concrete floor. I diluted the etch 4 to 1 with water and used 1 1/2 bottles to clean 1800 sq. ft. I sprayed on using a pump sprayer and then scrubbed with a stiff bristle brush never allowing the floor to dry. I then sprayed the entire floor with water and squeegeed the water off. Once the floor dried it looked good but I noticed some bright white powder in areas (See Photo). I then went ahead and started staining and noticed the real problem (See Photo). The stain magnified the white areas and would not adhere to the concrete. (See Photo) After wasting almost 2 bottles of Acid Stain I repeated the Etching process per the instructions on the bottle in the whiter areas with no success. I then had to used a 2800 psi power washer to get the white powder off my concrete. It took me two days messing with the Etch and Clean disaster. I used the Eagle Acid Stain-Rustic, Eagle Neutralizer and Cleaner and Eagle Concrete Polish Gloss Floor Finish and I am very happy with the final results. If I had to do it over again I would still use the Eagle products, just not the Etch and Clean. My concrete was in good shape to begin with and really only needed a good cleaning with a citrus degreaser.

Response from THD Customer ServiceNov 8, 2013
Hi Jimmy, I did reach out to the MFG for more information on this product and below is their response to you. Per instructions, floor must be clean of residue. The white is most likely residue from the ETCH & CLEAN. It must not be allowed to dry on the floor and it must be rinsed completely off. Likewise the ACID STAIN must be neutralized with CLEANER NEUTRALIZER after staining. Wipe hand or cloth across floor to check for residue. Do not seal until floor is completely free of residue. At this point the only fix is to strip the floor. Clean with ETCH & CLEAN, neutralize with CLEANER NETRALIZER, rinse until there is no residue, allow to dry and re-seal. Hope this helps.

Should have prayed the entire area
I wish I had sprayed the entire work area, rather than using this to spot clean, I think that would have made my stain project turn out better.
