Based on the reviews on HomeDepot, looks like this is the best penetrating sealer for driveways. However, this is non-glossy. How could I give a wet-look to the concrete?
Asked by: homedepotfan
Not sure how you can give it a wet look. All I can say is I have been happy with the sealant on my drive, walkway, porch and steps. I think it is the best sealer for concrete.

It will dry as fast as water. On a sunny day at temp above 80 degree, it will dry in 15 minutes. I would wait for 2.hours before stepping on it.

I am using this on a stamped driveway and patio Will it be slippery after it dries ?

Asked by: JoshinTx
I don not believe it will be slippery, but I have never used the product this way. Did your contractor not seal the driveway after the stamping? On a personal note, I have a 1100 sq ft stamped concrete patio. The contractor used a water-based sealer on it and I did not like the dull finish. After 6 months I redid the sealer with a lacquer-based product (low luster on most, but I also used a high luster variant on a darker-colored area beneath a deck) and the difference was phenomenal. Still looks good 6+ years later. I have not had to reseal.

Will this seal smoke smell out of concrete flooring in a building that suffered a fire loss?

Asked by: Gp2
Yes. I believe it would. Because it is a penetrating type of sealant, it wouls bind the fine smoke particles in the concrete pores and prevent them from re-aerosolized into the air and detected by the nose. But one has to do multiple coat to assure coverage. Another approach would be to use epoxy paint which will form a barrier and prevent smoke particles to come out.

Customer Reviews

5 gal. Natural Seal Penetrating Clear Water-Based Concrete and Masonry Water Repellant Sealer and Salt Repellant is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 811.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I applied one coat of the concrete sealer using a 2 gallon tank sprayer. The concrete was poured 2 years ago and had a sealer applied by the contractor at that time. It was recommended that I re-apply a sealer every year or two to keep my concrete in good condition.. I have almost two thousand square feet of concrete and the 2, five gallon buckets I ordered was just enough to complete the project; so the coverage estimate was spot on. It was easy to apply and did not change the appearance of the concrete; just what I wanted, I did not want a high gloss look. Water beads up on the surface and this will hopefully reduce the chance of cracking from water getting into small cracks and freezing this winter. Clean up was easy since this is a water based product. I am completely happy with the ease of application and the appearance, time will tell if it provides the protection I am looking for. I plan to re-apply the sealer again either next year or the year after to protect my investment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No change after applying to driveway After a thorough search online I decided to give Eagle Natural Seal a try - it gets a lot of great reviews and very few complaints. I placed an order online since my local HD doesn't stock the item. Arrived quickly and I went about following the directions precisely to prepare my driveway. Spent the better part of a weekend prepping, applying (started by rolling but that didn't go well so switched to sprayer), and waiting. A few days later we had some rain, I rushed to the window to see the product in action and unfortunately there was no change. I continued to monitor the pavement over the coming weeks and still no change. I contacted the manufacturer about the issue - they sent me another sample, thinking maybe I needed two coats. I recently completed this test and still no change. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the consensus and not recommend this product. I have since used similar products from Sika for other projects and have had a much better experience with them.

I researched many products and finally purchased this, mostly due to its fair price and great reviews. My last driveway had spalling all over the surface and looked awful. I didn't want that to happen again. My neighbor used a diff brand that rhymes with halspar. His driveway doesn't bead up water like mine. But it may be because he didn't apply it like I did. Here's how to apply this so that it looks like mine. Spray it on evenly with care, one section at a time. Spray the first section evenly then move to the next section and spray that. Look back at the previous section and again spray the spots that are already drying. Then use a paint roller on a long stick and roller over the surface to further ensure you get an even coating. Continue this process until you're all done. It dries quickly so be sure to do small sections at a time. Like 5x5 or however your driveway joints are cut. I purchased two 5-gal buckets and I only used 7.5 gallons total. I did approx 2100 square feet with 7.5 gallons. So 280 sqft per gallon. Surface is NOT slick from the sealer as you'd think it might be.

This product must be applied on a surface that has been dry for 24 hours and it cannot be wet for an additional 12 hours after application. Two applications are needed to be effective, so double the requirement. The first application seals the surface and uses more product. The second application sits on top of the first and does not use much product. Except for these restrictions, the product is easy to apply, I used a brush but a roller is also acceptable. One month later, water still beads up on the surface. I so not know how long the product will seal the surface because not enough time has passed since the original application, also we have not experienced any bad weather where salt is needed to melt the ice. Any re-application will not use as much product as the first application because the concrete is now sealed.

I used it last month to seal a large amount of exposed aggregate at my home (sidewalk and terrace). It had been 10 years since I last sealed it. Eagle Natural Seal far exceeded the product I used before. It didn't change the appearance of the material at all so it still looks completely natural. It had little smell and cleanup was a breeze. The MOST IMPRESSIVE part however was it's sealing ability. Water beads up on the surface just like a freshly waxed car! There is no penetration of the surface by the water at all. The water "sits" in bubbles on the surface until it evaporates. If there is a large pool of water on the surface in a low spot, it "sits" there as well until it finally evaporates. I applied this when it was just under 90 degrees. If water was going to penetrate the surface, one could quickly see that. You don't! I feel good that my aggregate will be this protected for some time to come.
