Customer Reviews

HG2000 Professional Electronic LCD Heat Gun is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely capable heat gun Very pleased with the heat gun itself. It's light weight, and very easy to use and adjust. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 Star rating is because of the storage case. it is not large enough to easily stow the cord along with the gun and accessory tips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the Professional This heat gun goes from around 200 degrees all the way up to 1200. It heats up very quickly, has a nice case that comes with it, and also comes with some attachments. It is very sturdy and the LCD screen is nice. I would recommend to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality heat gun! This heat gun is amazing! The heating elements reach the desired temps within a matter of seconds and the LCD display allows for quick and easy temperature selection and adjustment. There are 2 general temp settings 1 and 2 which allow for, you guessed it, lower and higher heat settings. Setting 1 begins at 120 degrees F and goes up to 380 while setting 2 allows for between 400 and 1200 degree temps. There are 5 fan speeds, and the temperature can be adjusted in 20 degree increments so you can get just the right amount of heat and air speed. And it feels very light in-hand. I've used it on several projects already, but most recently used it to de-badge my car (removed unnecessary model and engine type emblems for a cleaner look). I kept a steady temp of 400 degrees with a few quick passes for about 30 seconds then just took a little dental floss to it and they came right off! The precise temperature control was crucial to not damaging the emblems or the clear coat on my car. Bottom-line, as far as heat guns go this is the gun to get! It's got every feature you could possibly want or need and comes with a number of accessories. If I had to think of one drawback it would probably be that the cord isn't all that long, but nothing an extension cord won't fix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile, fully featured heat gun We upgraded our single speed, single temperature heat gun for this Earlex digital model and were very impressed. The control that the digital LCD screen provides to regulate the air temperature between 120 and1200 degrees (yes 1200 degrees!) is excellent and makes the unit versatile enough to melt heat shrink wrapping onto electrical cables to removing paint to lighting charcoal for the barbeque/smoker! The heat gun comes in a sturdy plastic carry case which makes storing the interchangeable tips easy when the gun isn't being used. The gun has a nice ergonomic size and weight and the additional LCD screen doesn't change the balance of the gun. There are two switch positions on the handle - '2' which switches the heating element and fan on and '1' which switches the heating element off but keeps the fan running. Position '1' is best for cooling down the gun more quickly after using it at higher temperatures. There are also four controls beneath the LCD screen that allow a more granular control of the fan speed as well as control of the temperature in 10 degree increments. Conveniently, if you keep the temperature control button pressed it speeds through the increase or decrease to avoid having to press it 10 times to change the temperature by 100 degrees. The gun can also be used 'hands free' by resting it on the workbench with the nozzle pointing upwards. The design of the LCD screen module allows the gun to safely balance on the workbench which is handy if you're melting heat shrink on a cable and want to rotate the cable while heating it for even shrinkage. The metal nozzles are useful and very easy to press fit onto the heat gun. In addition to the standard round orifice on the end of the gun, there are deflector nozzles (which can be seen in the attached picture being used to remove paint), a concentrator nozzle (that I used to direct a more focused jet of air to melt the heat shrink wrap in the attached pic) and a couple of shielded nozzles which are useful when working near surfaces that you want to protect from the heat. The curved shielded nozzle looks like it would be useful to help defrost a frozen pipe. In addition to the nozzles, two paint scrapers are included, one being a detail scraper for those hard to get areas. At 120 degrees I had no problem melting heat shrink onto copper wiring and at 1200 degrees, it bubbled and softened paint in a matter of seconds using the deflector nozzle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool w/multiple uses The Earlex Professional LCD Heat Gun worked very well. It removed really old paint spots from my front porch. It's a great product with a lot of different uses. It comes in a really nice case, and has several accessories to help get your job done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems to be holding up No real complaints about this heat gun. It heats up relatively quick and I like the adjustable blower speed. Some of the really cheap ones only have a high or low setting. The temperature range is very wide and I like the fact that the display shows the actual temperature, so you can tell when its up to temperature. Build quality seems pretty good. Case is nice and has spots for all the attachments. What I DON'T like is the layout of the temperature adjustment controls - the left button raises the temperature, right button lowers. This layout is completely backwards from the majority of user interfaces where right is up and left is down. I've found myself accidentally lowering the temperature instead of raising it because of this. Another thing I noticed is that after using it at a very high temperature and turning it off, there's a nasty burning smell and it smokes from the front. Seems to be working fine for the time being, so hopefully its just dust that's getting sucked in and burning up.
