How much does a bag weigh,?

Asked by: suzie4
Your question cannot be answered, considering that these bags are stored both inside and outside. The weight will vary depending on the moisture content of the mulch.

Asked by: Cindy
This is the brown you're thinking of. It's quite brown. Here in the FL sun, it lasts well, approx. one year. I used 75 + bags in my new landscaping last year and I was satisfied. No large pieces or crap in the mulch.

Whaf color is this mulsh?

Asked by: TM
Mulches are regionally produced and the base mulch may vary slightly in color from medium brown to very dark brown. Turning the mulch regularly will help it to retain its color.

After leveling the product, it looked very nice and great look. Got so impressed that order 5 more bags to cover up few spots. In a week, we had a normal rain around 0.1" , surprisingly, the brown color converted to a very light brown color and lost almost 98 % of the brown color. Some dark patches stayed which makes the whole yard more uncleaned now. See pics. Very disappointing. I am regretting to use this product and waste my the time to go to store, pick up the 35 bags, off load from the truck, spread them out and gathered the empty plastic bags trash.

We bought 50 bags 4-8-18. The next weekend we laid out 11 bags before we had to quit d/t rain. It rained two more day, then got cold and grey the rest of the week. By Thursday, we noticed the mulch had really faded. I expect fading after a couple months of hot bright sun but this was 5 days in cloudy Ohio. The mulch itself was good. No trash. It was a nice shredded mulch which I prefer because it holds together better than the bark nuggets. Notice the 39 bags of mulch behind the fence in the picture. And notice the contrast of the new bag (on the right) laying on top of the faded mulch.

It was never a great product, but it was a decent mulch for the price when purchased on sale. The color tends to fade quickly and would look like old mulch a month after application, but the mulch was consistent in size and quality. This year however the mulch has taken a steep nosedive in quality. From the very first bag to the last bag I was picking out large chunks of wood, shredded plastic, and small stones. I would highly recommend looking at another product before purchasing this bag of mulch.

While spreading the first 15 or so bags we tried to ignore the junk that was in the bags along with the "mulch". There was pieces of red and blue plastic, all sorts of odd shaped big pieces of wood, etc. It wasn't until the last 8 bags when we really started to see some junk. There was paper, plastic, Tylenol wrapper, blue yarn and most horrifying of all was a Lifestyle condom wrapper! I called Scotts to complain but aside from giving them the bar code so they could "look into it", there wasn't much they could do for me. Shame on you Scotts! I buy your products because they are supposed to be quality. Where are you sourcing this "wood" from....the city dump?

I Purchase 90 bags of Scotts Earthgro Brown for $3.33 a bag (Pd $299.70 + tax) and had it delivered for $65.00 on June 22, 2015. I actually went to purchase this a week or so sooner because it was on sale then but was told by the garden shop at The Home Depot that they were out of it and would not be getting any more in this season. I happened to be in The Home Depot for another reason and noticed they got new shipments of this in. I told the sales person in the New Milford Home Depot that I was just here and I was told the above and asked if they would honor the sales price and was told no. After a month or so the mulch started turning white with some type of mold which I have never seen before. When I asked The Home depot if anyone else that had purchased this noticed this in their mulch they told me nobody had reported it to them and just shrugged saying they had no idea what that was. That was just the beginning of a nightmare...The next summer season came and we were out gardening and noticed the front of our house was covered with tiny black dots. They were all over the siding, windows, screens all the way up to the gutters. We were being attacked by ARTILLERY FUNGUS that was growing on the Scotts Earthgro mulch (see picture). AND IT DOSE NOT COME OFF! This fungus can shoot anywear from a few feet to 20 to 40 feet towards anything lite of color. We had to look this up on our computer because we have never seen or ever heard of this stuff and we have lived in this house for 20 years and have never had this happen! It was even all over a white fence we had around our garden. Unless you see it and get it off right away it will not come off. We are in the process of having our house painted because they had to sand these 1,000's and 1,000's of black dots off our siding and we can't get them off our window frames and screens which we will have to live with. We also had to remove all that Scotts Earthgro mulch off all our gardens before it caused more damage and so when they finish painting our home it won't get all over our new paint. This is the first time we have ever used a bagged mulch. We were drawn in by the color guarantee. I would not recomend this product. This has been a very expensive lesson.

We purchased 20 bags of the SCOTTS black mulch and as we were spreading the mulch in the flower gardens, we found so much debris such as rusted sharp metal pieces and wires, large pieces of glass, shredded plastic, bottle tops, colored plastic pieces in various sizes and so much more. I have saved most of the trash that we have pulled out and have taken pictures. There really is so much. I am most concerned about where this TRASH came from that was in these bags because my family and pets are exposed to this. Not to mention the trash that continues to blow out of the mulch as it finds its way to the top. I have contacted SCOTTS for an explanation and have been given a case number but I have not heard back from them.

Only complaint is that one of the batches was pretty wet on the inside, but it wasn't moldy or anything like that - just a little messier than the dryer stuff.
