Beautify your landscape with Earthgro by Scotts Red Mulch. Our bagged mulch uses Scotts Color Advantage to provide year-long color. Made from forest products, this shredded wood mulch helps conserve soil moisture while also preventing weeds by blocking growth and access to sunlight when applied at a 3-inch depth. Plus, this landscape mulch is free from construction debris and is locally made*. Use this colored mulch around trees, shrubs, flowers, or vegetables in gardens and landscapes. Some color fading of exposed material will occur due to natural product degradation. For longest color, keep mulch dry for 24 hours after application. To optimize color, it is recommended to turn or rake the top 1" of mulch every 3-4 months. One 1.5 cu. ft. bag of Earthgro by Scotts Red Mulch covers approximately 6 sq. ft. *Each bag of Earthgro by Scotts mulch is manufactured an average of 100 miles from the stores where it is sold.

What do I do if my mulch fades color

The loss of colorant is usually isolated to the top 1-2 inches of the mulch. For best results should be applied when rain is not expected for 24 48 hours and should not water area for 24 hours after apply to allow the mulch the fully dry which helps to set the colorant. Is it organic and is it died brown or natural

Does this attract termites
Hey John, Thank you for your question! Earthgro by Scotts Red Mulch is not treated to deter animals or insects. However, insects and worms are natural to the environment and many do breed in soils and or mulches.
How many bags to cover 60 sq ft
Hello Mgilmore! Thank you for your question! If you are applying the product at about a 3 inch depth, you would need approximately 10 bags of Earthgro by Scotts Black Mulch 1.5 cu. ft.
you say your mulch has chunk size wood pieces in it. How much of the bag consists of these chunks? And how big. One of your competitor's bags chunks were 3in. long and 2 in. wide or round.

We maintain strict definitions regarding how many times our mulch products are processed through industrial shredders. No double or triple shredding is performed on our standard mulch lineup, however, we do not have an exact "amount" of chunks that can be expected in any given bag. How much does a pallet of mulch weigh
Hey Dennis, A pallet of Earthgro By Scotts Red Mulch should contain 80 1.5 cu. ft. bags. Mulch does not have a fixed weight due to environmental factors, such as the current moisture content of the mulch. For example, High moisture conditions will increase bag weight because microscopic air holes allow water to enter during storage.

Mold only becomes visible "overgrowths" when the soil or mulch stays too wet. Overgrowth is typically a sign of moisture levels rather than a product defect. The mold and fungus found in these products will not harm plants and is safe for people/pets to be around. You may dry the soil out on newspaper to help get rid of the mold.
