At the top of the page it says there is a 5 year warranty; however, it says there is only up to a limited two year warranty. So what is it?
Asked by: Matt
The auger comes with a 5 year limited warranty (there are exceptions). There is, however, a 2 year limited warranty on any emissions related parts. Please contact Customer Service at 800-345-6007 option 1, then option 5 to request a copy of the Warranty information so that you understand what it is before you purchase. They are available from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Central time.

Asked by: James
I use a 10” for 6 x 6 posts. Works fine but that is the max size I would use. This is a home owner’s unit.

does the trans have oil or grease? what is the engine rpm? what is the auger rpm?
Asked by: ray
The case is a sealed / split case and came pre-lubed so it must be grease. Weight is about 25 pounds. Max auger rpm is 285 and the gearbox is 30:1 ratio.

52 cc Dually Earth Auger Powerhead is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 33.

Handle on the pull rope is WAY too small for a normal grip. Digging small rocks/roots OK but stalls on any moderate sized roots or a rock. Drilled 28 post holes for fence so far. Box came damaged from Home Depot but no internal damage was found after opening. Had to point out the damage to the HD employee. Wanted it noted on the receipt in case I had to return after opening but they refused to do that for me. Not sure if Id order again or not....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dually auger I bought this auger a few months ago and I have had no problems with it. Follow the directions and everything will be good. Only thing i can say bad is that it does not like large rocks or ones that are embedded in clay..... it will spin out of your hands but that is true of all augers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied so far. I went with this powerhead because it was larger than most of the other one-man units. We have heavy clay soil here and I knew it would be tough going. I was careful to clear the auger repeatedly so it wouldn't jam. Wish it wasn't a two-cycle engine, but I can work around that. Based on the opinions of my friends I run it with store supplied premixed fuel which contains no ethanol. It's expensive, but I want this thing to last because I have big plans for it. It is big, but manageable for a single man. I'll admit, though, it would have been a lot better if there were two of us running it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Can be a difficult to start. Not great for clay. Overall, it's fine. It definitely doesn't dig holes as easily as their marketing videos show but it does dog holes. The first day I used it I put about seven posts (8 ft long) in the ground about three and a half feet deep. I was trying for four feet deep but that's as deep as the bit can dig. The powerhead was literally on the ground so it could go no further. After taking a break I couldn't get it to start. Came back a few days later and it started fine. Also, we had to stop a few times and bust up the clay with a manual post hole digger. That slowed us down significantly. Overall, it still got the job done.

Packed wet soil with quarter inch roots 8 inches down and it did ok. Don’t stab at the soil. Gently hold it down with just enough pressure that it’s going to still spin. Don’t fight it. If it jams, wedge it and pull it up then start again. If you don’t do this you will smell the engine burning. That smell you get from a overworked drill. Like that. That’s not a good smell. Once I figured out the right touch it went down beautifully. Took anout 4 minutes each hole 24inches deep. In Colorado.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mostly Good I purchased this product in order to set 4 and 6 inch wood fence posts on a large project. For the most part I did/do really like the Auger. However...... The gearbox gave me some issues, they were workable but it caused me problems. The bearing seal on the output shaft failed. This resulted in having to open the gearbox and refill the grease every 2-3 hours of use and having to keep rags handy to wipe off the output shaft during use. In short this should be a better quality bearing, especially since it serves such an integral part of the auger mechanism.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well. After following the out of the box prep instructions, it started right up. It also started fairly easy on multiple uses over multiple days. It dug the holes well. Fairly easy to use solo in dry top soil. Had to use two people when getting into clay with lots of up and down movements to clear the clay from the bit. You'll know once you hit clay beause it will bog down quite a bit or stop competely if you get too far into the hole without backing out to clear the auger bit because the clay will not travel up the bit easily like top soil does. I gave 4 stars becuase it does seem a little underpowered when getting into clay and I'd also like to see a smaller half inch to 1 inch x 48 inch bit for probing soil depth. Smallest bit they have right now is a 2 inch which really is 3 inches wide on auger width when factoring in the screw blades on the bit. All in all though, good machine. Way way easier than a manual post hole digger.
