Hello Rich and thank you for your question. Your sod will need to contact the soil so the root structure will grow and create a beautiful lawn. The Weed Block Fabric will not allow any opportunity for the sod to contact the ground; in this case, the cut sod will not be able to survive for any length of time. Best wishes on your project.
No, just cut a hole where you want the new plant to be and staple back the sides.
No, it is not recommended to be left over winter.
No, all I have every seen is black at any Home Depot store.
Black
black, and then, there's black if you prefer
no, black only
Not to my knowledge. I have never seen it anywhere.
We used rock that we hand placed over the fabric to go along with our rubber mulch we purchased. As long as you don't tear it, you will probably be ok.
You can cover with whatever you wish. Stones, mulch, sand. Your choice.
Nope! I rolled mine out planted my plants for my garden and left it at that. It works perfectly as is. The mulch is just a decorative measure. It's a black plastic type material so a lot of people prefer the mulch for cosmetic purposes.
I would expect it would work much better because what you are doing is trying to keep the sun from drying out the ground underneath. I am sure this would also block any sunlight from getting to the weeds so they could grow.
No, but if you do cover it weeds will grow on top, and ultimately through the plastic and into the ground - "fabric" is a misnomer, there is nothing fabric about it. It's plastic (polypropylene) that has been "needle punched" - a secondary manufacturing operation used to make non-woven roll goods. If you don't cover it, it will tear apart if used on a path, or a drive way, for instance.
