Type BR surge easily plugs into a single-phase Type BR load center and occupies two 1 in. spaces like a double-pole Type BR breaker. Due to the evolution of electronics and microprocessors in the home, there is a continuous challenge to provide quality (clean) power for electronic loads such as appliances, computers/home office and entertainment systems. Surges caused by lightning, utility grid switching and other sources travel on current carrying conductors throughout the home, which can affect and destroy sensitive electronic loads. When installed properly, BR surge provides surge protection for the entire load center. If internal components are damaged, the BR surge LED visual indicators will signal the need for replacement.

Will this SPD fit in a Westinghouse Residential single phase Panel?

AnswerYes, it should fit with no problems as long as you have two adjacent available spaces for it. The Eaton BR series is the correct UL Listed product for use in older Westinghouse loadcenters.

I was disappointed when I got the surge arrestor, not with it, but myself! I have a Bryant load center, and the BR-type surge arrestor is made to pop in the spot of two breakers, protecting both 110V lines. I had two slots that still had the knock-out covers in place, so I "thought" I had a spot for the surge protector. I was very disappointed when I took the cover off the box, only to find that the area behind those knock-out was where the main line in cable was connected to the main breaker. So, be careful to check that you really have a spot for this before purchase. The up side is I was able to "hardwire" the surge arrestor into the box, placing it on the bottom of the box. I drilled two small holes in the right spot, and now I can see the indicator LED's, without even opening the box door! So it all worked out in the end.
