Product Overview

Circuit breakers protect the wires in your home from overheating (referred to as an overload) and fault currents (referred to as short circuits). The Eaton Cutler-Hammer 20/20 Amp 1 in. This style of breaker will only fit into load center bus stabs that are notched to accommodate the rejection clip built into the bus bar contact on the breaker. I have found that over a 34 yrs i have been an electrician there are to many variables in the fittmin when not using an OEM breaker, from the contacts not lining up properly, to breaker hooks or set screws not lining up to the panel cover not lining up over the new breaker, order the OEM breaker save yourself a few trips returning and trying to find a compatible breaker

will this breaker fit in a bryant panel?

Answer

Yes it will, BR 20/20 & 20/15 has the BR in front of the #/size of the Breaker because it designates it's the old style of Breakers for Bryant. Cutler Hammer bought the Bryant name for these BR style of panels.

Yes it does, the Eaton BR style of panel stands for Bryant, they bought the rights/patent for these panels from Bryant. They have been upgraded over the years, but they still accept the same style of breakers.

Yes it should fit! If you were trying to install this breaker and it's a limiting style of breaker it has to be installed in a slot that has the cutout in the center of the buss bar. If you see a metal clip installed in the slot in the back of the breaker it's a limiting breaker. They do make a non limiting breaker that costs about $2.00 more.

BD1515 blown! What do I use instead?

Asked by Tony October 30, 2019

Answers

Well it depends on what you mean by blown? If it just keeps tripping then you need to upgrade your wiring to 12 awg and put a 20 amp breaker on it. If it has just gone bad and won't re-set then you can just replace it with an Eaton BR style of twin breaker. Look to make sure if it can be a limiting type or the non limiting breaker, you can do this by looking at the stab on the buss bar. If there is no slot notched out of the middle of the buss stab then you need the non limiting breaker.

Why does the description say SINGLE POLE, but in the details, it says number of poles: “2” — very confusing.

I installed this in a 1998 T&B box and I had to use a Dremel to cut a small metal plate out of the back of the breaker Bakelite for it to be accepted. Once I removed this small piece of metal from the back of the breaker it fit perfectly. I now have 6 new 20 amp receptacles in my basement and 3 new 20 amp GFI receptacles outside.

It’s a circuit breaker. I needed it to replace a 40 year old breaker that would no longer reset. It was simple to install and works like it is supposed to. Price was right and my local HD had it in stock. Not much else to report.
