Product Overview

Eaton's BR ground fault current interrupters (GFCIs) are 1 in. wide and provide superior safety over a standard electrical outlet in areas where electricity may come into contact with water. GFCIs are required in any application near water such as kitchen countertops, bathrooms, swimming pools, hot tubs, and outdoor receptacles. They immediately break the circuit when electrical current leakage is detected, reducing the risk of shock and electrocution. This circuit breaker periodically runs a self-test diagnostic and complies UL 943, Fourth Edition.

This Eaton/Cutler-Hammer BR series GFCI circuit breaker will fit Eaton/Cutler-Hammer BR series loadcenters. If your loadcenter has the Cutler-Hammer name on it it has to be either the BR series (Gray panel) or CH series (Sandalwood Tan panel). BR series and CH series breakers are not interchangeable. There is no CC series. NOTE: The LTN and F.T.N. numbers you list have no significance to the end user.

Eaton/Cutler-Hammer BR circuit breakers fit BR series loadcenters and are also the correct UL replacement breaker for Westinghouse, Bryant, General Switch, some Challenger and a couple others. They are not UL Listed for use in GE panels.

Are all GFCI breaker required to be AFCI since 2008? Or does this ONLY have GFCI without AFCI?

Asked by ee November 20, 2019

Answers

No, all GFCI breakers are not required to provide AFCI protection. There are dual function breakers that provide both GFCI and AFCI protection, but there is no requirement for all GFCI breakers to provide AFCI protection. This breaker only provides GFCI protection.

When using a fault tester the breaker doesn’t trip. Is this normal?

Some testers simply cross the neutral and ground internally within the tester, but ungrounded circuits don't have a ground conductor so in this case the tester will not trip the breaker. Use the breaker's test button and see if it trips.

Buyer beware, check model #
Ordered an Eaton GFTCB115CS because... I wanted an Eaton GFTCB115CS as it matched an existing breaker. Without notice Home Depot supplied an Eaton BRN115GFC. Same function, but the BRN115GFC is a lower cost Canada-only breaker. Not happy..
