Awesome…for several reasons!
I have put down laminate flooring many times before but I have not used any padding. It was easy to lay down, his imperfections in the flooring, and provided a softer and quieter finished product! I would not go without again!

    Best Underlayment Available Period!
We used the Eco Cork Foam underlayment for a new vinyl plank floor. We covered over an old ceramic tile kitchen floor and the product was amazing. Easy to lay out and simply trim to size. 1/8 inch thickness took care of every grout line with ease and makes for a silent and very comfortable floor. Highly recommend this product – you will be thrilled. Made in the USA – even better!

Has it pros and cons. Pros - waterproof, somewhat soft, tapes together well lengthwise. Cons - does not want to unroll flat and ends constantly want to curl up, making installation a bit tedious. Also the rolls are only 25 ft in length. Probably would go with Quietwalk again if I had to do it over.

      Everything they claim plus more!
I was looking for the best underlayment product money can buy and found this product. It had been recommended by a friend that used it and a professional installer also insisted upon it. I also took the time to read the reviews and I called the factory for additional information. I had a previous 1000 square foot carpeted cement floor and the carpet needed replacement. we liked the look of vinyl but knew we would need a good underlayment. ECF is that product and more. Waterproof with a vapor barrier, cushioning effect but not spongy. The easiest product to ever put down. Lays flat. a unique way of attaching to each other making for a perfect fit and easy to cut and shape where shaping is needed. It seems a bit pricey but consider the long term use it provides it is really not meaningful. Having the best underlayment is the most important consideration when putting down any flooring. DON'T HESITIATE-JUST BUY IT!! You'll be glad you did.

Eco Cork Foam underlayment for Allure Vinyl
I STRONGLY recommend this product!!!!!!! What a difference in not only the finished product but the installation as well. I had vinyl glue-on flooring installed in the living areas of the house years ago which looks beautiful but is quite tough on the feet (I am on slab foundation). So when removing the carpet in the bedrooms I thought that it would be nice to have an underlayment for the vinyl. I happened across this product in the aisles of Home Depot and took the two rolls they had for a test in the first bedroom. It went down easy and gave a smooth, clean surface for the flooring. What a difference between this and the vinyl plank glued directly to the slab! Gives it a firm “cush” while making installation a breeze. It is a bit on the pricier side - but you definitely get what you pay for and then some. I wish I could give over 5 stars for this stellar product, do not skimp on prep or foundation of a project!

With all the underlayment options to choose from its easy to get overwhelmed. After plenty of searching I ordered a 300' roll of Eco Cork Foam from Home Depot's website. If they had this available at my local home depot I would have bought it on the spot. The quality difference between this and what they do stock is that obvious. So if you want an underlayment that lays dead flat, is firm and supporting, yet forgiving with subfloor imperfections and will make your new flooring feel awesome to walk on then don't hesitate. BUY THIS UNDERLAYMENT!!! you won't be sorry.

I just updated and installed my new LVT floors, and I used another brand name foam product for the previous install and upgraded to this wonderful cork product, this time around. I love that the cork is thick and bounces back when stepped upon and it was easy on my knees to install without needing my knee pads. An added extra bonus is that it has a waterproof top that helps with water retention under the LVT. When I pulled up my old Pergo flooring, I found mold and the remains of water puddles under the flooring, so waterproof products are a must in my old Victorian house. After installing the new LVT with Eco Cork foam underneath it, I noticed that the vinyl floors didn't feel as stiff as the old thicker particle board floors that I had. This product was also easy to cut and laid down smoothly under the LVT with no bunching up. I would recommend spending the extra mullah on this underlayment, if you're going to walking constantly on the floor or in high-traffic areas. I was very pleased with the Eco Cork Foam product and would recommend upgrading to this underlayment for any vinyl flooring installation.

A MUST HAVE for below grade concrete
1,800 SF Below-Grade basement. ½ inch think engineered wood. This product is the game changer that made it happen without a single problem. Insluated the wood to temps and moisture barrier, softened just enough on the bare feet, simply fantastic. Plus, given the below grade aspect of my project (that used to be carpet), the “dampness” feel and associated odor is totally gone now. Basement is as fresh feeling and smelling as the main and 3rd level of the home. Totally transformed the house. Will use this for all new flooring going forward regardless of location in our home. Not cheap - but worth every single penny!

This product was easy to install ! When completed our floors were quiet and warm. The vapor barrier film worked well and sealing it was just pulling off the tape strip and overlap the film flap. Very fast very simple. The product lays flat and smooth. We had no trouble installing our plank flooring over it.

Seems to be a good product. We used a 12mm laminate wood on top. Our main living room and hallways have been complete for about 3 weeks. The Eco Cork foam really helped cut down acoustic echoes in the house as well almost completely removing the hollow knock that laminate can have. There is one spot with a noticeable creek but that is most likely due to the small leveling imperfections. I think the Kreek would be worse if we had used a thinner cushion. I chose this product because of the thickness added moisture barrier. Working with the Eco Cork Foam was simple; it cuts easily with a box cutters or house hold scissors. The adhesive strip works well but I would recommend having a roll of flooring tape from any seams that need to be joined.

We asked installers if they liked the microban red underlayment or ECO and without hesitation they advised we pick the eco cork foam for wamth and acoustic factor. Home Depot was in short supply so had to go across town to the one store that had any inventory. Floors have been in only one week, but we are satisfied.with the choice so far. Home Depot/Romanoff install consultant insisted that we needed to glue down. When local installers got here they said float install was better choice on concrete slab (for our house anyway).

Now that our twins are old enough to stop writing on walls and spilling food and beverages everywhere, my husband and I have decided to update our home and get rid of all the carpet in the bottom floor. We are taking on one room at a time to build our DIY skills. We decided to start in the dining room that we actually use as a study. After a lot of research we decided to go with an engineered hardwood, but I wanted to make sure that it didn't have that hollow sound that some laminates and engineered hardwoods have when you walk on them. We looked at underlayments to see if there was something that could help and came across Eco Cork Foam. The description said that it would make our engineered flooring sound more like hardwood, and it had the highest sound ratings of all the other underlayments! The more we read about it, we better it sounded, so we decided to give it a try. I have to say I was really impressed. It was easy to lay out, it cut easily, but didn't tear when we walked on it. The side with the vapor barrier goes up, so it was easy to slide the planks across to each other as we worked. Our sub-floor was wood, so we didn't need to use the tape. Once the floor was finished, I went and put on a set of heels and walked across the floor to hear the sound. It actually does sound like solid wood. It looks fantastic! We will definitely be using this product throughout the house!

First off the box came opened and taped back together with one roll missing. HD at first said I had to return the whole box and re-order. Since I was scheduled to install the floor that weekend, that wasn't acceptable. The rep then offered a gift card partial refund and ordered 1 roll. The $ amount of the GC covered the cost plus tax and shipping with a little left over. Satisfied. The product is of very high quality and goes down rather nicely. They also include a roll of tape with each roll of underlayment which is a great little bonus. The plastic vapor barrier is substantial and includes an extra 3inch overlap to be taped to the next row. I did a sound test using various objects on the floor with underlayment and without on a concrete floor. Quite frankly we could notice very little difference but it has to be providing some sound deadening. Either way now that the floor is finished we are happy with the choice of underlayment. It was a little pricier than previous products I used but also of better quality IMHO. For my personal use I would buy again unless cost was a major issue.

Tough Surface Makes the Job Easier
I had about 500 sq ft of Bruce 1/2" thick engineered wood to install over a plywood floor deck with an open basement underneath. After pulling up the old carpet and pad I found that the original builders had been pretty sloppy with their wall texture, spilled paint, globs of glue, and a couple other unidentified materials that made the deck quite rough. I scraped up the worst of the uneven patches but knew I needed an underlayment that would be stiff enough to bridge the dented and rough areas, but soft enough to absorb the small protrusions remaining (like hammered over staples). I looked at all the other underlayment products Home Depot had, and they were either too flexible, too flimsy, easily torn, or too unyielding. The EcoCork was on the higher end of the expense scale, but it had all the properties I was looking for, plus just holding it has the feel of high quality. I noticed this product comes in 75 sq ft rolls, while most others have 100 sq ft per roll, but since I'm comparing the price per square foot, that wasn't a negative factor in the decision. I like the way it cuts with a utility knife, leaving no frayed edges or torn-out pieces at the end of the cut. I also really appreciated the cushioning on my knuckles when I would use them to crab-walk sideways down the line as I placed the boards. The way the vapor barrier overlaps the adjacent piece also makes it very easy to butt the two sections together for a tight fit. This particular installation didn't necessarily need a 6 mil vapor barrier, but I'm definitely glad it had one attached. The barrier made it easy to crawl across the padding on hard plastic knee pads without worrying about ripping the material. Two of us were working together, and we frequently slid pieces of flooring, glue bottles, and even hammers across the room to one another, and the surface never came close to tearing. This was a very crowded workspace where we had to move furniture frequently as the job progressed, and again, no tearing. At one point in the process we had to stop due to scheduling issues, leaving a 15-inch by 5 foot strip of the underlayment exposed across the busiest part of the floor. For three days the four people in the house, plus their 165 lb dog walked back and forth across this section. When we finally got back to it I just vacuumed it off, and it was still in the same shape as when I left it - no repairs needed. One thing to watch for when installing a floating floor over a plastic vapor barrier is that when you're banging the strips together to get a tight glue joint there's a chance of moving the entire floor because the plastic surface is fairly slick. An easy solution is to place 1/2" spacers on both adjacent sides opposite to those you're banging on and leave them until you're finished with the project. The floor won't move after you're finished with the hammering. The only improvement I can see would be to make the underlayment transparent so that less experienced helpers don't lay it across heater vents and install the flooring right over them, which may or may not have happened on this particular project. The finished project looks great and has just the right resilience underfoot. I will definitely use EcoCork Foam again for my next wood flooring project.

I had the opportunity to obsess over underlayment this past September. I'm a DIYer by nature, especially in doing research before I do any renovations.. My wife and I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and purchase a beautiful Armstrong acacia tongue and groove engineered wood floor. In doing so, I was faced with hours of research about the installation and underlayment. We would have to float our floor for several reasons I won't get into. I began to read forums, web blogs, and retail reviews. I purchased cork, felt, foam, and Eco-Cork foam underlayment. I pulled back my carpet, laid the wood on all 4 surfaces locked them in and performed a walk test, knock test, and flex test. Being in a 2nd level condo with a poured light weight gypcrete over plywood subfloor, I was worried about 2 things; Sound transmission and a solid sounding floor when I walk on it. The first thing I noticed about cork and felt, is that when I knocked and walked on the floor, I was hearing a notably louder than I was comfortable with hollow return sound. It wasn't just the volume level of the hollow sound, it was the frequency that it occurred. It was in the lower to mid range of sound. It was annoying and made the floor sound as though it had been laid over an empty paint bucket when tapped on. This wasn't the case with the area laid over the Eco-Cork foam. It was as if I was laying the wood on a solid rubber surface and the wood and underlayment were acting as a solid unit. What does this mean? To me it meant that my floor would not sound cheap and hollow. The drawbacks? Well, there is a potential to transfer more sound energy through to the subfloor to the neighbors because of this solid feel as apposed to the felt and cork. In the case of cork and felt, it's as if the tapping sound is being deflected back to the room it's in. I decided to go with the Eco-Cork and after 6 weeks of walking on it and living with it. My wife and I couldn't be any happier with our decision. Some things to note. Click lock floors may require a more rigid surface such as cork or felt. The Eco-Cork foam has a very very very small amount more flex than cork and felt. Floor is not a glue down, it's a complete float on gypcrete. Floor is 1/2" engineered. Subfloor is not 100% flawless The Rolls come with tape and it takes 2-3 people to roll them out and get them taped at the seams because they want to roll back up the way they were.
