A:  Only if you use a filter that does not advertise filtering to 5 microns. I use two filters: first is carbon filter to 5 microns and second a quality 5 micron particle filter. I have never had carbon or other particles in our water. The average human hair is 40 microns or more in diameter. Most itemes 5 microns in size are beyond the average person's sight without a microscope.

A:  It is normal to see some fine black carbon particles in the water immediately after installing a new carbon block filter. However, this will quickly clear up within minutes and will not reappear.

A:  Have seen slight darkening around top rim. Cleans off easily.

We used this filter in the past and trust this company's reputation and it's claim on 25 microns. Truth be told - your water pressure might drop slightly bit if the pump is not strong enough. So, really depends what the application is (city or well water and what typical pressure is in the system). We are on well water at 50 psi pressure, so there is no concern whatsoever. Filters like a champ. Does not last as long as other 1 micron filters. Fits most 5x10 inch whole house sediment filters on the market. Only good for 3 months. But does its job well!!! RECOMMEND!

I ordered this EcoPure whole house water filter from HomeDepot.com for delivery to our house. It was packaged well, was not damaged, and arrived on time. It's a Large Capacity Carbon Block whole house water filter. It reduces sediment and chlorine taste and odor. It filters down to 25 Microns according to the label, but I don't have the equipment to verify or deny that claim; I just know that I feel better about filtering our water, and it could be all in my head, but I think that filtered water tastes better too. NOTE since this is the Large Capacity filter, it will not fit the smaller more common 10" whole house filters. This filter is about twice the diameter of those ones. I think the description of this product should make it clearer that this is only for LARGE CAPACITY whole house filtration systems. I could see how someone could easily order this one by mistake when looking for a replacement for the smaller whole house filtration systems. You would need to read the entire product description, and check the item details for the product measurements.

This is a standard size whole-house water filter. It fits into my house water filter easily. Its package says it will reduce chlorine taste and odor, sediment, sand, silt and rust, down to 25 microns, and that it is “NSF certified.” This is a good credential. NSF is the National Sanitation Foundation, founded by the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health. The NSF Water Division certifies products that come into contact with drinking water, such as plumbing components, water treatment chemicals and drinking water filters. Twenty-five microns is 25 millionths of a meter, .001 inch, far less than a human hair’s diameter at about 75 microns. Our well water doesn’t have any chlorine taste or sediment, but I can believe that this filter is eliminating anything over twenty-five microns.

UNIVERSAL FIT CARBON BLOCK WHOLE HOUSE WATER FILTER - FITS MOST MAJOR BRAND SYSTEMS
I had it under the house that was crawl space last month. I had whirlpool unit that worked great for the whole house water system. I liked that it was premium filtration to reduce chlorine taste, odor, sediment, sand, dirt and rust down to 5 microns to protect my whole water supply, Easy to drop in my whirlpool unit. Mark the date of when on my whirlpool unit and my wall calendar to change every three months. I must have the premium filtration for my whole house water filter.

                    306 3-stage system problems
Received the filters okay but when I changed them out we developed a major leak around the filters. After finally getting to talk to a person, it was determined that I need replace the head where the filters attach. Was told to order on-line but the part number was not recognized by the system. Finally was able to talk to a person again. Was told they would replace the part under warranty and it should be here in a couple weeks. Here I am waiting for the part to come.

Hannah, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and we're sorry to hear this product hasn't met your expectations. We recommend replacing the filter every 3 months, but filter life can vary depending on local water conditions and the amount of water used in the home each day.

I installed this filter as whole house water filter. It eliminated a slight smell coming from city water and works well with my water softener. Perfect fit on GE filter housing.
