Can this share a circuit with a dishwasher?

Asked by: Jake
I would not try to share a circuit with a dishwasher. This unit pulls about 12 amps, leaving only 3 amps in a typical 15 amp circuit to run your dishwasher before tripping the breaker. It really needs to have its own dedicated circuit.

Can this plug in the 20A outlet with the garbage disposal?

Asked by: Okidoki7
1 Horsepower =746 watts or about 6.2 running amps. Starting amps are higher but momentary and a breaker doesn't react that fast. If your disposal is stalled, you will usually trip circuit breaker on bottom of disposal. I've been doing it for 10? years with a 1/2 HP and never tripped it yet.

Tank was fairly easy to install with two water connections plus the pressure valve. Takes up a very small space. We have an R.O. system with a 2 gal tank under the same sink and it still fit with room to spare. I sweated 3/4" copper pipe from the pressure valve to an elbow then down to a small container. Most of the work can be accomplished on your workbench before the tank is placed under the sink. If you have a deep sink, you will probably need brass elbows on the tank connections. The rest is easy. Just run your water supply to the tank then out to your faucet connection. Now instead of waiting two minutes for hot water, we have it in seconds. Recovery time is also very fast. I gave it four stars because of the instructions. I threw them away and figured it out myself with basic plumbing knowledge.

I installed it as supplemental water heater as our whole house tankless system took forever to supply hot water to the kitchen as it was at the end of the line. It gives sufficient instant hot water for all normal kitchen uses as well as the dishwasher that I connected as well. The installation was pretty straight forward if you are handy with tools. You need to purchase 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch female to female connectors to connect to the unit as well as other supply lines/nipples. The overflow/relief valve connection can be a challenge if your sink (like mine) is not on an outside wall. I used a dishwasher drain extension pipe with a tee and a hose connection. Remember these units need to be disconnected and flushed out about once every 12 to 18 months, so don't make things too permanent and flexible lines are the way to go. Overall, a great unit and exceeds my expectations. Would highly recommend.

Did NOT install in-line with existing water heater. Has been AMAZING! Checked other manufacturers, other stores - settled on this for size and price. Ordered online, ship-to-store, no problems on Dec 28, 2016,installed within the week. EASY install. Had many concerns about actual measurements - this was going below a 9" deep, under-mount sink, replacing a garbage disposal: PLENTY of room. I'm using the old disposal switch to save energy; this little unit heats water in 5-10 minutes and I have enough to wash dinner dishes for two - including pots & pans. Actual dimensions are: 16"H x 9"D x 10"W and the relief valve adds an extra 3.5" to the height. Am considering adding another in guest bath...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, installing hoses is a pain I bought this unit after being disappointed with an under-sink recirculation pump that failed. After looking at the various options and reviews, I decided to buy this unit. Keep in mind it is not a small unit, yet will easily fit under the sink. I was pleased with the size when I opened the box. I had read about how it was hard to hook up the fittings, so I was not surprised when I ran into problems, too. Simply put, there is no reason why you can't screw a simple water hose onto the water heater's top fittings. You cannot. The water heater fittings need to be engineered so there is a simple pipe coming out the top (rather than restricted openings with a rubber gasket on top of the opening) so you can screw on a water hose in 10 seconds and be done with it. I had to go to Home Depot and buy $24 worth of brass fittings to get my hoses attached. See photo. If you use these type of fittings, make sure you wrap six to eight wraps of teflon tape to the top of the water heater's pipes before screwing on the brass adapters. Four wraps of teflon tape will not be enough to prevent water leaks (ask me how I know). As far as the temp/pressure relief valve, I ran a PVC pipe to the other side of the sink compartment and down into a plastic bucket. There is a minimal chance this vale will ever release pressure, and if it does, it should release a small amount of water until the pressure goes back down, and then the valve will seal up again. Hence, a small bucket should be plenty good. I considered plumbing it into my sink drain line, but there were no adapters to do that, so I gave up. The lights are simple and work great: green for power and red when heating water. It heats up water in roughly five minutes and the water temp can be easily set (we set it to about 2 o'clock). Within five to 10 seconds we are getting hot water out of the kitchen sink. My wife loves it! As a final note, this unit really needs a timer, and I would suggest you buy one for it. There is no need to heat water 24 hours a day. A mechanical or digital timer will solve this problem, and I will be buying one shortly and hooking it up to my unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product The application for the use of the water heater is in my far back bathroom where the water lines run thru my attic in the winter time it will take about 3 minutes to get hot water to my sinks witch is about 3 to 4 gallons of water so I installed this water heater to cut back on water usage I was surprised that the water gets very hot I am happy with the product. The installation took a little time and work sense I needed to hook up two sinks with old out dated water valves that had to be replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Heater I am a hard tradesman to satisfy. Rarely do I ever post a review because there is just so much junk in the marketplace. The design of this water heater is brilliant with outlets being 1/2" NPT (national pipe thread) For non trades people, just go to the brass fittings area at your local HD store and purchase the fittings you need to go from the 1/2" NPT to the 3/8" fittings on your speedy supplies. It you have a sink and a dishwasher to service from your heater, just use a 1/2" brass NPT "T" fitting. The one hub will screw on the top hot water out fitting on the water heater and just screw in brass adaptor fittings from 1/2" male to 3/8" male for the speedy supplies. For the cold water into the hot water heater, you can use a double ended (3/8" both ends) dishwasher speedy supply to go from the existing supply valve to the cold water input of the tank. (use brass conversion fittings to get onto the 1/2" NPT supply fitting on the top of the heater) Note: Use good pipe dope on your brass fittings going onto the top of the heater and your brass to brass threated connections. No pipe dope is required for any of the 3/8" speedy supply connections. This heater is a piece of cake to install.
