These lights are built as “retro fit” lights to an existing can for both interior or exterior use.
Love this product makes old recessed light fixtures look brand new. Great way to modernize an update old recessed lighting. The LED light is a bright white color offering great lighting. Great for lighting dimly lit kitchens
no need for a can, that matches with the ceiling, you can connect the cables right to the power network
The fixture would need a "dimmable" LED bulb, with any dimmer switch that has "for LED" on the package. Then it should work fine. There different types of bulbs, the key here is "dimmable" on the package.
Please ignore the well meaning, but uninformed answer above that says “not sure what you mean...”. Recessed “can” lights designed for CFL bulbs with a 3 or 4 pin plug in connector or a 2 post twist in connector (like the one shown), each have a ballast located above the ceiling in a built in electrical box located on the side of the can. Normal LED retrofit lights cannot be wired into these CFL type cans without removing the ballast. This special LED retrofit light is designed to be connected without removing the ballast. So if you do have a CFL only designed can, you need to either use a specialty retrofit kit made for CFL fixtures like the one shown, or remove the ballast from the electrical circuit. But if your your recessed can light will accept a twist in incandescent light bulb, you DO NOT have a ballast and you do not want to use this LED retrofit light.
The housing needs to be at least 5.6 inches in order for this downlight to install correctly.
