The end of the box I have reads, “suitable for use it totally enclosed luminaires”. They do not get hot, just slightly warm when on, so I see no safety issue with having them enclosed.

HOME DEPOT HAS ALWAYS ALLOWED US TO RETURN THEM. I WAIT UNTIL I HAVE A FULL BOX THEN I RETURN THEM FOR A FULL REFUND.

Yes, they are shatter resistance. And they can be used in your application.
Not directly (they are not smart bulbs), but could be used in conjunction with a smart light switch.
That's a rather general question for this forum, but while it is true that LED bulbs need some air circulation, there is a difference between enclosed and sealed fixtures. Weather resistant and underwater fixtures are air tight. Most standard enclosures are not air tight, having holes into the ceiling or wall space behind the fixture.
