I would like to use this moulding to make a cornice. If I purchased a piece to fit my window width and an additional short piece, could I cut the short one to make a projection from the wall (about 5 inches) and would the profiles match at the corner if I made a butt cut?

Yes you can cut the material if need be, although they are designed to be installed over the window as they arrive. We offer these in a number of sizes, so maybe it would be a good idea to speak with someone at your local Home Depot and see if we can offer a custom crosshead that would fit your application.

Hi JoJo16, yes, most products purchased on Homedepot.com can be returned however the policy varies between products and there are exceptions. This item has a 90 day return policy. It CLEARLY states in the description that the item is “67 in. Bottom width” ... THIS IS TOTALLY INCORRECT!!! I’ve contacted Home Depot & they assured me that they would have the item inspected the 2nd time to make sure that it measures correctly. Since they don’t do 1/2” increments, we rounded up and these STILL DON’T FIT PROPERLY!! Very frustrating and has delayed completing my home once again!!
