A:Â Thank you for your interest in this product! Yes, these faux wood column wraps can be trimmed to 90-1/2". The column will come in multiple pieces and the column shaft will run from floor to ceiling. The capital and base do not affect the height of the shaft. Instead, they simply install around the shaft. This allows you to trim the column shaft to whatever length makes sense for your project. Once the shaft is trimmed, install it around your post and finish by installing the capital and base around the shaft. Q:What is the recommended way to install the columns?

Answer This Question
A:Â Thank you for your interest in this product! To install these columns we would recommend gluing and screwing them around a structural support with wood blocking. The column wraps would be delivered unassembled. The column shaft would have 3 sides pre-built and the fourth side would be unattached. You would start by attaching wood blocking around your structural post. This blocking will serve to provide a snug fit and fill in the empty space between the inside of the column and the outside of the post. You would then sleeve the 3-sided part of the column shaft around the post. Once in place, you would fasten the 4th column side with glue and screws along the joint and fasten the column to your blocking. Finally, you would cut and attach the capital and base pieces at the top and bottom of the column around the column shaft. This was very easy to work with but the dimensions are misleading. They state that an 8" column is 6" inside so I built a 6" support column then had to cut it down to 5 1/2". Also, the faux iron base and capital are not specific to the column size so the fake bolt heads are not in the right place. Wound up grinding them off, painting and using actual lag bolts and washers to make them look right. Still made a nice looking column but more work than necessary.
