A:  Thank you for your interest in our product. These faux wood mantles are made from polyurethane, which is not an inherently load bearing product and as such is not rated for a specific weight. That said, the installation of these mantles does require interior wood blocking, that if properly affixed can support a load.

              nice looking, easy installation, but...
              for whatever reason, the mantle tapers at both ends oh, i. E., runs downhill at both ends. I mean it has enough character already, why do the tapered ends? Pretty much my only complaint.

                This is a beautiful mantel but it is not hard to tell that it is a faux mantel. It's actually a little too perfect to be honest. It is very high quality (even though it is a hard foam) and I am happy with the purchase. It's literally just a little too perfect to be an old piece or "driftwood."
