(What's this)
Wow...this little dehydrated is awesome. We packed our dehydrated full of strawberries, and within about 12-hours, we got delicious dried fruit for munching and storage. We found that the slices that were over ¼" thick did not dry as fast as the others. Also, about ½ was through the drying time, we rotated the trays. This is not required, but seemed to shorten our full recommended drying time. The dehydrator is easy to use with good instructions. The trays are easy to clean. Super product that will save you $$ from buying dried fruit at the store.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
Recently we received the Electro Boss, Baja food dehydrator we ordered and decided to tell a little about it for those considering a dehydrator. I've been wanting one for time as a means of stocking and preserving various foods. Something I have trouble with is allowing certain products (fruits and veggies) to go bad before we're able to use them up. An excellent example is banana's since it's just my wife and I and we don't always use a bunch of banana's before they become over ripe. While I prefer them riper my wife won't touch them once the skins start to appear bruised. So the first thing I dried when the Baja came, was a bunch of banana's. I wasn't disappointed in the least. The Baja did a great job of drying the slices into little banana candies. I then wanted to try some potatoes but found the entire bag was sprouting eyes. So I cleaned the whole bag, sliced and dried them. Now anyone who's familiar with drying foods for storage can tell you, it can be done in an oven. However, ovens are a pretty inefficient way to dry foods for storage. First, ovens aren't energy efficient for this purpose. But also, your oven is in use during that time and therefore can't be used to cook a meal until your finished drying whatever is in it. We viewed several dehydrators before selecting the Baja, finding a wide selection yet few that sell for less especially when considering the features. Probably the best feature is this rotates as it dries, ideal for helping to get an even drying cycle. It has 5 tiers (trays) that interlock and are adjustable for height to accomodate thicker/thinner food slices. Few of the higher end dryers we viewed could rotate. The only negative about the trays is 4 have a round center hole and one has an octagon. The octagon must always be the bottom tray since it fits the rotating cam on the unit. The reason I find that a problem is foods dry from the bottom up. Therefore the 4 upper trays can be restacked while the bottom tray cannot. For this reason, I found (if possible) avoid loading the bottom tray. Still, if your only doing a small amount, can just use the bottom tray and leave the uppers empty. It needs to be noted, the instructions recommend all the trays always be used even when upper trays are vacant. All in all, this is a very easy machine to use and the instructions are pretty easy to follow and offer good suggestions for best results. They do however, lack cleaning instructions. For this reason, I hand wash all the pieces (not in the dish washer) since there's no indication they would be safe otherwise. The trays are plastic and though they are clearly heat resistant, should they become dislodged inside a dish washer I think they could be broken. Another feature absent from most of the other dehydrators we viewed is a dual setting for temperature and a convenient (mechanical/ not digital) timer that can be set for up to 24 hours and then turns off the machine. This is useful for the simple fact, I can place my product in the machine, set the temperature and timer and walk away. It will turn off when the timer runs out so you could even set it to run while you sleep. I don't find this to be any kind of a safety issue since it doesn't generate much heat to the outside, no exposed heating elements and power typically cost less during night time hours.

(What's this)
I do not recommend this product because the trays consist of a very thin plastic that began cracking after the first use and all the trays had cracks after the second use. As I unpacked this food dehydrator, I noticed the trays felt quite thin, but I was hoping that they would withstand the heat of the actual drying process. I could hear snapping at random points the first and second time I used it; however, I did not actually see all the cracks until I washed the trays after the second use. Even as the racks were air drying on the counter, I continued hearing popping sounds and found pieces of plastic all over my countertop. The racks did not go from one drastic temperature change to another, nor were there any instructions in the manual that specified certain care of the racks. Even with the small cracks, all but one of the 5 racks are still usable, for now. One rack has a major crack. The racks consist of an outer ring which all stack on each other and an inner "spoke" to lay the food on. All the racks stack upon each other and sort of twist into place, however, you do have to play with them a bit to get them to align correctly. There are no clear instructions on how to assemble the racks or really any care and use instructions at all. The manual does have two charts with recommended drying times. I dried multiple types of fruits and veggies and for the most part the times in the charts for each item were fairly accurate. I can say that I had a lot of fun dehydrating for the first time, though there is definitely a lot of trial and error. The unit itself worked well and rotated properly and maintained adequate heat. If the racks had not cracked, I would have given this product 5 stars. As it is though, you can't dehydrate without racks and these racks are definitely subpar. I have tested this product for at least 26 hours of total drying time and am disappointed in the quality

(What's this)
I cut up lemon slices for making lemonade or lemon infused water. The dehydrator has to run for about 18-24 hours. I also cut up 1/2 of a small watermelon. After the drying process is complete, the watermelon pieces taste just like watermelon and retain the nutrients. It is easier to snack on because there is no mess once it’s dehydrated. It tastes quite good. It does take some time to cut up the pieces to about 1/4” thickness to fit in the trays. It is best to fill all 5 trays because it has to run with all trays installed.there is a timer that can be set for a certain amount of time or for it to just stay on until you turn it off. It works well to dehydrate fruit. I’ll try herbs next.

My wife and I are really enjoying our new Baja food dehydrator and are already drying our second batch of fruit. It's 13.5 inches wide and 10 inches high, but it has 5 trays that allow for a substantial amount of fruit to be dried. It rotates for even heat distribution and has adjustable heat settings and a timer that automatically turns off after the time setting has been reached. It comes with a nice user guide for drying times and care of the dehydrator. We definitely recommend it for it's quality and performance.

(What's this)
I have always been interested in owning a food dehydrator. I just never realized how much effort went into the process of drying out food. My first attempt was to prepare apples and plums according to the directions. Then I realized that there no specific instructions for preparing plums in the dehydrator. I then noticed that several fruits and vegetables were not listed in the manual. Nor were meats included in the how-to manual. So, if you buy one, you will need to locate a recipe book or find a website online that can guide you on ways to use your new dehydrator. It's a nice unit, but a range of 4 to 9 hours to dry two apples (which were delicious) seems like a long time to wait for the reward. Plus, I realized afterwards that this thing takes up a lot of storage space when not in use.

The plastic trays break easily. The dehydrating is executes unevenly due to the bottom ones being so close to the motor.
