Does the transformer have to be plugged into an electrical source?
Asked by: Uniformed
That bullet point about "no messy cables or wires" is really misleading: it might make one think that it's solar-powered or battery-powered.

Can these be connected to an existing low voltage landscaping transformer? I already have a 300W transformer that is on a timer and I would like to connect this edging to it. Is it possible or do you have to use the transformer that comes with the edging?
Asked by: Patrick
You can use his low voltage transformer that has 300 watts. If you are connected your edgings together you could likely light up 250 to 300 feet evenly with Electro-Edge system. There are 'jump' cables for this purpose in each package of edging.

How many sets of edging will the transformer allow ? If I buy 1 with transformer and 2 packs without transformer & connect all, will it over load the transformer ?
Asked by: Bev
It depends on the size of the Transformer - One transformer of 88 Watts will supply lighting power for up to 250 linear feet or 12 twenty foot (20') rolls. The Transformer unit included in the Electro-Edge Package is a low voltage landscape transformer of 15 Watts that will power up to two rolls of Electro-edge.

Customer Reviews

5 in. x 20 ft. Fiberglass Edging with Transformer is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did What I Wanted It To After putting in a patio I decided to put a Paver Path around the patio and wanted to highlight the edge of the Paver Path. This product seemed a good choice to combine both goals. The edging is very sturdy, feels like it will last forever. Be careful when cutting the straps holding the edging in its circle packaging, it unwinds quite rapidly and could be a little scary especially if kids are around. The stakes are plastic/vinyl and were useless to me. My ground turned out to be very rocky so I bought steel ones. As long as your ground is not too hard, they will work fine. The lights went in fine if not a little too snug. I used a pair of channel-locks to coax them into their hole and then snapped the cover on and used the channel-locks to firm it up. I used 3 sets Electro Edging altogether, 2 with transformers and one without. I combined 2 of them with the jumper and that all seemed to work fine. When I plugged them in, they all worked the first time which pleased me to no end. This is a good product and I would recommend it to a friend. I attached a picture which should provide an idea of the finished product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best landscape lighting! Great product and easy installation. I purchased this fiberglass edging because it had LED lights, which will be much more economical because they use very little electricity. I am a single lady, so I was a little worried about the installation at first. It was a SNAP, even for ME!! My edging and lights look GREAT around my flower beds in the front yard. My neighbors have been asking me where they can get it! I highly reccomend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lights up the walkway well I installed this between the front walk and the flower bed in front of the living room. It really helps light the walkway better and will look great when I have Christmas lights up. My only complaint is I wish it came with 9 light bulbs instead of 8. I had a gap on one end until I bought a replacement set of bulbs. Although I have 7 extra bulbs now, I'll be prepared in case any break!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product does not work well over 20 feet I bought the product with the transformer and and also two additional packs without the transformers. I need a total length of 50 feet. The transformer included does not work over 20 feet. Additionally if product doesn't work on first setup and you need try to switch connections good luck, becuase the product also specifies removing the lights or power cables once placed on the "electro edge" can cause damage. Evidently this must have happened to mine because I unpludged the transformer and then repluged it in and had no power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product, easy to install We have been using the fiberglass edging for years. The addition of lighting to enhance landscaping and to provide path lighting is a wonderful innovation. The inclusion of the transformer made for an easy installation that included everything necessary to install the edging and just plug in the lights.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked for a while I bought and installed this two years ago. Worked well for a couple of months, then several individual lights would randomly fail to light. I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me a new set of bulbs. I put in the new bulbs and the same thing happened, they worked fine for a few weeks and then started to fail at random.
