I really like that you can monitor the mouse trap from a smart hub and get notifications on your mobile device if the trap was triggered. Most importantly to me, this is a humane trap which uses electricity to instantly kill the mouse or rodent in the trap. There is a handle on the top of the trap, making it easy to lift the trap and empty it without having to touch the dead rodent. the bait area is easy to remove so you can load or clean it. There is a little LED light on the top which will remain off until a mouse was caught so you can visually see if the trap was triggered or not without having to touch the trap.

If the trap is not in a place where the rats think that it's easy food, they will stick their nose in and then go somewhere else. That was the problem I was having. The rat would put it's nose in and smell maybe get a little charge and set off the blinking light without zapping the rat. I have now found a prime spot for the trap and have neutralized a medium sized rat and a small (baby?) rat. I have a few large rats, but the medium sized rat didn't fill up the tunnel so there is room for a large rat. PS I use peanuts for bait.

Hooks up to Wink Hub with ease. Easy to check status on my phone. Z-Wave is perfect for battery power. I like the idea of not using poison, but I don't think this has enough power to kill the rats in my area. I received this DOME Z-WAVE SMART ELECTRONIC MOUSE, RAT AND RODENT TRAP for free to write this review.

I haven’t caught any mice yet, but I do like several features of this mousetrap. The bait trap is a separate compartment that makes baiting very easy. It uses 4 AA cell batteries that electrocute the mouse when it crawls in the trap. There is a light that comes on then letting you know that the trap needs to be emptied, as simple process of just tipping it out. I do not have a Z-Wave hub yet, but when I do get one, I can connect this and Alexa will let me know that the trap needs to be emptied without the need to visually inspect each trap. I guess they have indeed built a better mousetrap.

Not unless you immediately need to know when a mouse is caught. It does sink to your wireless hub, limited to a few brands, so you can receive notifications. You can use the $60 mouse trap without linking to a hub. It uses 4-AA batteries, not included, to deliver an electrical shock to the rodent. Once the trap is triggered it will blink to notify you. You can easily dispose of the rodent without touching anything, such as you have to do with wire traps. The trap works. It is expensive, so if you are considering buying just decide whether you need to know when it is triggered so you can save yourself a few seconds checking it a couple times a week.

I was recently using my leaf blower to clean the garage floor when I kept seeing something in the corner of the garage twitching all around. Not knowing what it was I went and found a rat had gotten stuck on one of my glue traps that was up in the rafters and had fallen from there to the garage floor and was in its last moments of life. Needless to say it was kind of sad and gross all at the same time. Thinking there had to be a more humane and easier way to rid these vermin out of my garage I went on a quest to see what I could find. That is when I found the Dome Z-Wave Smart Electronic Mouse, Rat and Rodent Trap. This thing is fantastic. It is super easy to fill the bait portion of the trap. You simply pull up on that section and place what ever bait you want to use in it and slide it back into place. If you need to change the batteries you simply slide the top section completely off and flip it over on its back which exposes the battery compartment. When you catch a rat or a mouse all you have to do is flip the switch on the top to "off" and simply tip the trap down and the rat or mouse will simply slide out the bottom into a waiting garbage can or a plastic bag (which is what we do). We don't have a Z-wave controller in our home yet so I was unable to get updates when the trap was triggered. This is not to big of a deal though since I have the trap on my garage floor up against the base of my plastic shelving. I can see their little tails sticking out of the trap so I know I caught yet another one. Since I leave for work via the garage each day it's not a big deal to glance over there on the way out the door to see if we caught one or not. I have only given this trap a 4 out of 5 stars because I would like to be able to get updates on my phone via something other then the Z-wave controller. I'm hoping they can come out with another way of sending a signal to your phone besides just this one way. Once this is done this trap will be worthy of 5 out of 5 stars. If you are looking for a modern and clean way to rid your living space of rodents I would look no further then this wonderful rodent trap. It has made killing rodents that much easier.

Nothing like getting alerts on your phone that you have caught and killed that pesky mouse/rat. Set this up a week ago in the garage and it has caught a mouse already. It is fall, so they are trying to find warm locations. Seems to work well. Its easy to add bait, the closed end can be lifted up and new bait added. When you do catch a mouse it dies inside the trap so you lift it up by the handle and dump it. no need to worry about touching any blood/guts. Also made of durable plastic, should last a long time. I have it paired with a SmartThings v3 hub and you need to go to Dome's website to follow the instructions to pair it. (A little tech know-how is needed, but don't be put off as they have documented it rather well.) My biggest issue was the new Smartthings app never discovered the device, but the 'classic' one found it in a second. The smartthings app gives you alerts if the trap is triggered. It also tells you the battery level. Very pleased. These comments are from October 2018, and as we know software can be updated and changed over time.

It is so easy to refill the bait section as it just lifts out so you can fill and then just place it back into the opening. Installing the batteries was easy, just slide the top back an inch and lift it up. it takes 4 AA battery's to operate. If you have Z-Wave you can link it to send you a notice you have caught something in the trap. Also can be configures with some of the Ring doorbell systems. Unfortunately mine can not be added to connect so I am going to have to check with the light to see if something has been caught. I am going to investigate purchasing a Z-Wave control base so I can get notifications to empty the trap.
