Quality and value! This is a well made, high quality sink. The stainless is flawless and at 18 gauge (compared to many others at a heftier 16 gauge) and I expect that it will provide years of service and still look good doing it. This is a great sink that offers versatility with the double bowls. Ample depth and size of the larger bowl allows for washing those big deep pots with room to spare. The smaller side is great if you need to soak something while still being able to use the larger side = dual function. I realize that may seem like an obvious statement but some people don't think about these things when buying a sink. One big tub sink limits doing multiple tasks.
Ever wondered about the multiple options regarding stainless steel kitchen sinks and how to measure and compare the quality??
Here's a crash course on stainless steel in a nutshell brought to you from the world wide inter-web (it's so handy!):
"Steel thickness is measured in gauges (ga), or the number of layers that make up one inch of thickness. For example, a 16ga sheet of SS means that it takes 16 layers, stacked one on top of another, to add up to one inch. 18ga takes 18 layers. Therefore 16ga is thicker than 18ga. Most kitchen sinks come in 18ga or 16ga thickness. 16ga is also stronger, less noisy, and more resistant to scratching and oxidizing then 18ga."
Don't necessarily let the fact that this sink is only 18 gauge sway your opinion as this is undercoated which provides a sound deadening effect and heft to it. Considering that I've used and reviewed similar, and MUCH more expensive, sinks by Kohler as well as others that are less expensive too, this sink offers good quality at a good price point.
