A:Â No, the sink is for indoor use only.

A:Â Hi Jeremy, We recommend using 316 SS for outdoor applications. Take a look at PODUH141810 and PODUH2816. They are both a thicker gauge and 316 SS offering corrosion resistance and more durability to face the elements. Thanks!

Elkay is MORE THAN OK in my book! This is a high quality sink. The stainless is flawless and at 18 gauge it will provide years of service and still look good doing it. It's the perfect sink for a wet bar or kitchen island prep area. The rounded inner corners and sides make for EASY cleaning vs hard to get at sharp corners.
It's also important to note the sound deadening insulation that is underneath this sink. This is what prevents that hollow sounding "TWAAANG" when you knock something into the side or hit the bottom of the sink and that is IMPORTANT especially when your clanking things around.
Ever wondered about the multiple options regarding stainless steel kitchen sinks and how to measure and compare the quality??
Here's a crash course on stainless steel in a nutshell brought to you from the world wide inter-web (it's so handy!):
"Steel thickness is measured in gauges (ga), or the number of layers that make up one inch of thickness. For example, a 16ga sheet of SS means that it takes 16 layers, stacked one on top of another, to add up to one inch. 18ga takes 18 layers. Therefore, 16ga is thicker than 18ga. Most kitchen sinks come in 18ga or 16ga thickness. 16ga is also stronger, less noisy, and more resistant to scratching and oxidizing then 18ga."
The difference between 16 and 18ga is nothing to lose sleep over until you get into the 20ga range as those are rather flimsy.
Considering that I've used and reviewed similar, and MUCH more expensive, as well as others that are less expensive too, this sink hits the sweet spot and offers excellent quality at a great price point.

Hi PersnicketyME. Thank you so much for your review! We are so happy to hear about how much you love this sink. This sink does have rounded edged corners that make those messes even easier to clean. No one likes to hear that "TWAANG". Your sound deadening pads minimize sound and vibration for more quiet in the kitchen. Elkay has been in business for 98 years, and we thank customers like you for this! Enjoy your new sink!
